that makes 2 of us. while i do think guevara is one of the best players in the league, he wasn't as effective towards the end. while canon and moreno both were. oh well, we'll take it.
*cough*[mod note: trolling removed] *cough* . . . . . [mod note, just because you are jealous that he can hit PKs and you can't, doesn't mean you get to be a turd on this board. thx]
possibly so. I can't think of a rational reason why he deserves it. Definitely should have been Cannon
I'd bet the stadium in Harrsion that Freddy wins Rookie of the Year after the way the MVP award went.
Some Crew fans just don't understand why we didn't take them up on their generous offer of Danny Szetela for Amado Guevera. No doubt if the deal had gone through the Crew would have made those pks. What a shame!
At least Amado is a deserving candidate. A few goals by a 14/15 year old is nice, but Parke was the last pick in the draft and in my opinion, a better defender than the US's best...Eddie Pope.
Well, Amado did meet with George Bush back in September which may account for some of the voting irregularities here. Seriously, all you had to do was watch the MetroStars with Guevara and WITHOUT him and you can understand why he won. Jaime's 14 assists are amazing and the year he had was great as well, so if there ever should have been a co-MVP, perhaps this should have been the year.
I'm extremely happy for Amado. I'm not going to comment concerning whether it was a bone thrown to him or the organization, but I'm certain MLS realizes his important presence in the league and that his success and reward may compel others to join and make MLS better.
Guess you're losing a stadium then. I was interested to see what the Metro fans felt about the MVP selection. Interesting that even you all think it was a strange selection. I must say that the majority of the selections this year don't make any sense at all to me. Moreno should have won something. Comeback Player of the Year should have been a cake walk. Guess the obvious is something people don't see on the voting board. Oh well.
As of Aug 1 or so, he clearly deserved it. Over the last 2 mos both he and team faded, so the selection is a bit of a surprise, but not outrageous. I think you can make the case that a offensive mid from a team with the most goals in the league deserved it. Or, at least deserved to be in the discussion. He tied with Noonan for the point scoring lead, and would you rather give it to a guy on a team with 8 wins, tied for the league low? Cannon was great, but his team played pretty boring & defensive soccer (least goals scored and conceeded, etc). Arnaud and Wolff on the same team counted against each other. There wasn't one guy that blew the league away. I would not have been shocked if it went to Moreno, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.
I think Armado's spirit, as much as his skill, earned him this award. I am proud of him and hope he stays around!
The only bright spot of a miserable Rapids season was snatched away Kudos to Guevara and Metros for nabbing a little glory though.
