Does he have a European passport? I don't know how he'll stay in Italy after turning 18 if he doens't given the strict rule against non-EU players in Italy.

    Danish 2. Division 2008/09, Round 3 :

AGF II v OB Odense II, 2-2
    0-1 Christian Bolaños (37')
    1-1 Olof Persson (47')
    2-1 Dennis Høegh (Pen.) (69')
    2-2 Anders K. Jacobsen (90')

    AGF II lineup 4-4-2 :
Morten Hyldgaard - Cheikh Sarr (66: Gustavo Cabrera), Olof Persson, Frederik Krabbe, Kasper Povlsen - Niels Kristensen, Benny Feilhaber, Jens Gjesing, Jesper Blicher - Dennis Høegh, Razak Salifu (81: Michael Vester) .

    Odense II lineup (4-4-2):
David Preece - Mads Greve, Anders Nielsen, Metin Celik, Timmi Johansen - Morten Bisgaard, Matti Lund, Christian Bolaños, Peter Nymann - Emmanuel Clottey, Anders K. Jacobsen
    ---

According to the reports it was a very intense high paced match, more or less at Danish Superliga level, between two very good Superliga reserve teams that beside Internationals and former internationals like, Christian Bolaños, Morten Bisgaard, Emmanuel Clottey, Olof Persson, Benny Feilhaber and Gustavo Cabrera. also were fielding plenty of Danish youth internationals.

Just returned from International duty, Gustavo Cabrera was not used from start, but got to play the last 24 minutes in right back position, while the newly signed USA international Benny Feilhaber got his debut playing from start in central midfield.

Great, thanks for the updates as always Ceres. I can't help but notice the influx of CONCACAF talent making their way to Denmark with Feilhaber, Cabrera, Bolaños. What do Danes think of this and do you see a continuance of this trend?

Few years ago, Danish clubs mainly did their shopping in Sweden and Norway. Now ther are just more foreign internationals being signed and the big majority of the players are now picked up from the German, English, Dutch and Swedish league, so I dont think ther a trend of Danish clubs looking for CONCACAF talent. I believe it was a bit by chance that Bolaños, Feilhaber and Cabrera was signed... Bolaños because he could not get a work permit in England after he had signed with Charlton Athletic, Feilhaber because his team Derby was relegated from the English PL and Cabrera because his agent had made a good deal with AGF in the past ..

    Danish 2. Division, round 4 :

    Skovbakken v AGF II, 1-2 (0-0)
    0-1 Lasse Vibe (6')
    1-1 Thomas Munk Larsen (87)
    1-2 Lasse Vibe (90)

    AGF II lineup (4-4-2) :
Morten Hyldgaard - Cheikh Sarr, Olof Persson (Troels Hansen), Niclas Kristensen, Gustavo Cabrera - Niels Kristensen, Kasper Povlsen, Jens Gjesing, Lasse Vibe - Dennis Høegh (Michael Vester), Razak Salifu (Morten Beck Andersen)
    ----

Gustavo Cabrera played all 90 minutes as left back for the AGF reserves when they beat the Aarhus team Skovbakken... According to the reports Cabrera made a solid looking performance, not making mistakes because he keeps it simple and dont make it look more difficult than it is. So he looks like he will become a good player for AGF..

Well, I know Gustavo Cabrera will not be playing later today in the Superliga, but if you want to have a look at the AGF Superliga team live, to get an impression of the team and the league, then it is possible at :

    Hey Ceres,

With the injury to defender Dan Thomassen, do you see Cabrera getting his shot with the first 11 anytime soon? Thanks.

According to the reports it was a good high paced fight dominated by AGF. Both clubs were resting some of their regular starters due to injuries and players being called up for the NT or youth NTs this weekend...

Difficult to say, because I think the club regard Cabrera more as a left/right back rather than a central defender... Dan Thomassen was regarded to be among the absolute best central defenders in the League and was the captain of the AGF defense, so it is a big blow and was a huge shock for his team-mates, the club and all the fans when they watched him getting injured... If you dont know, then AGF has been struck by some horrible injuries in central defense the past years.. AGF signed Swedish international Olof Persson in January 2007 to be the captain in defense. However, just before he was to get his debut he go seriously knee injured and has not quite fully recovered to play Superliga... as writen AGF then signed Dan Thomassen in this transfer window to be the needed captain in defense, but on the first day of traning after the summer break, his partner in defense Ole Budtz broke his left leg in the most horrible way, so that he is finished for the rest of the season.. and now also Thomassen is finished for 1 year :( ...

Wait, so Tavo scored?!?! Wow. And this was an exhibition match from what it seems - but looks like this was mostly Superliga players getting minutes (even if it was a few guys who don't generally start all the time for the Superliga side).

I suppose that Cabrera is settling in well? Match reports just say that he played well. Any more insight than that -like, how does he look relative to the quality of the other players? I have to assume that he'll be joining the side on the bench pretty shortly if they have injuries and he's playing well in matches like this.

It definitely wasn't a cup match. Ceres refers to it as a "test match", there were 500 people in attendance and the Danish Cup doesn't have superliga cubs playing one another until later rounds (the season just began). It may have been an exhibition with a "cup" given to the winner, but it wasn't a cup match.

Just went to the website to check it out and they have a link to video of the goals from the match. First of all - from the footage - it's clearly an exhibition - it wasn't even at a stadium (though many of the first team players were there). Secondly, Tavo's goal comes at the end of the clip. While it's not special by any means, he does a good job of finishing off a ball that was loose in the area.

Well, it was not really a friendly and though you could call it an exhibition match, it was really more of a test of players who have not been among the regulars in the positions they were playing in this match, like using Jeremiah White as a forward, Jens Gjesing in central defense along with Kim Madsen.... So thats why I prefer to call it a test-match... Gustavo Cabrera did very well and I guess he will soon get his chance to play some Superliga and/or the in the next Danish Cup game..
