he will be out for the rest of the Season...:(

although Unfortunate it opens up a spot for Christian Noriega , under 23 stud to grow and develop in that position.

Christian is as big if not bigger then Buga, faster on the ball and has a nice outside shot and moves the middle quite nicely for the U23's and Municipal

Hey, what's the deal with Pezza? Did he get picked up by that Italian team?

I don't believe Pezza ever went. I've been watching their website and it never registered. Makes you wonder: if he really had that "offer" in hand from the Spanish club but originally left it behind to trial in Italy instead (then never went to Italy), will take that Spanish offer afterall?...or perhaps my theory is correct in that he didn't have a real offer from the Spanish club, nor a real trial firmly granted by Italy and that it's either his agent making noise or the Guate press making stories up again.

Fredy Thompson was also rumored to be heading to Chivas AGAIN this month, now you hear that he may be negotiating a firm deal with Chivas, Columbus, San Jose OR Real Salt Lake. This type of process is singlely prohibited by the league though, so there's probably non-truth to that as well. I can't see Municipal letting him go for any reasonable loan fee or transfer fee given his importance to their midfield as well.

And will Melgar show up to San Jose on trial as had been suggested? Maybe as I believe he has a green card, so could be cheap help for SJ. The big issue will be whether Municipal will let him go for free. I can see the news about Willie Sims signing with San Jose being true potentially, but only as a reserve team player given his age and lack of production with the time he had in this league already.

I still think that we'll see some Comunicaciones players headed north to USL and (maybe) MLS given the contract dispute there.

Freddy Thompson stays in Guate, most likely due to such a bad showing on his part during Argentina. Like you didnt see THAT coming.

Freddy IMHO always seems to get cold feet when the lights are on him to be the man in charge or to show what he's got. If you want to make it in the MLS or USL you need to show that you're there to play, not just be another number.

Re: Guatemalan Football, News & Info Thread Vol. III ®

Or perhaps he just wasnt' really even that close to a contract in the first place and his agent did the same thing again by saying "done deal" when he hadn't even lined up a trial yet?

He plays a deep position here in the US. He's under a long-term contract in Guate (and would therefore require negotiation with Municipal for a deal). He's not fast and, as you said, never shows up for the big game.

I called it from a mile away - no chance he was coming here.

EDIT: What I mean by all of this is to point out that the guys that the Guate press have "signed" deals before they even go on trial ALWAYS seem to have hte deal fall through and it's because the agents are telling people that a team is interested - and that somehow becomes "he's going to sign". None of our guys have done enough to leave Guate without a trial to go to a better league (except Ruiz).

Tavo is quality best defender we had in the nations cup and Gold Cup, he has been the most consistent

right now the most decent export we can supply abroad, along with Avila if he can improve his 1st touch in tight spaces

Looks like No MLS for Tavo. Pretty disappointing, our guys keep getting the shaft when it comes to MLS. We need to start looking across the seas.

Tavo needs to hire Pezza's agent. Tanque's getting tryouts during every Guate tourney, how come the rest of our good/decent players cant get that kind of representation?

In my opinion, Tavo and Tanque are the only guys that have shown to have good agents - the rest are horrible. Although, it seems Pezza's guys dropped the ball this year because he didn't actually actually go anywhere. But his history of serving Pezza up to some impressive gigs is impressive - getting a Guate player to England and Spain is impressive (Euro passport or not). That said, if I recall, Tavo has been to two MLS clubs and to Denmark over the past two years.

Sounds like FC Dallas still hasn't discarded all posibilities of picking up Tavo. I dont think he should hold his breath though Guatemalan players are always getting the run around in the MLS. They ask our boys to tryout and just give them the runaround.

I agree - it's a long shot, but according to the club's press secretary (note: not the Guate press) Steve Morrow was reportedly very pleased with Cabrera and felt he had good quality and said that they hadn't made a decision yet. I won't be surprised if he doesn't get picked up, but it does seem like it was a good opportunity and that they are considering him seriously.
