IMO women's football around the world is 50 years behind men's football (due to cultural reasons more than anything else) so Guatemala is not below average to say the least. At least we get to play against the best team in the world in competitive tournaments, something the men's team has never done. The current senior female team averages 21.6 years of age and 10 or less caps per member. It's a bunch of teenagers against highly-seasoned, professional, well-paid players, (see Guatemala's 2012 Olympic Qualification monetary allowances which I commented earlier in this thread). Let's be happy that our (very young) women's NT at least gets to experience multiple clashes with the best of the best. It's not like the COG is spending incommensurate amounts of money on them .

Watching the replays on the CONCACAF site, just ALOT of bad marking. I didnt watch the game, but in most of these goals the US players were all alone when they scored and the closest defender is behind them. And by the way, there's nothing wrong with some gorditas. ESSSSOOOOOO

The problem is that the defensive positions are improvised. Brooks plays forward at her college, Rivera gets switched from flank to flank, Ramos is a striker at her club (although she looks good in the center of the field), Maria Alejandra de León and Lohaiza play futsal. They're just not tactically able nor do they have enough experience. Add a really short GK to the mix...
