Well, the team rankings are only important for getting a work permit in the UK if a player doesn't hold a Euro passport. But it doesn't carry as much clout to be a "national team" player for a country that seems like its team is so weak that it doesn't even appear like being on the National Team is particularly difficult. Once you get to the 100 ranking, that's sort of what it means.

After a nasty 2-2 draw in havana where the game was suspended vrs Cuba
it was noted that Guatemala will not show all their cards since the games was being heavily scouted by US, Mexican and Honduran representatives in that Havana game where Guate held the lead twice and lost it twice, in a match where cuba was fouling extremely hard.

Now today Feb 18 Guatemala u23 will Play Japan U23 in LA....

it will be played on the 4th practice field at the Home depot center, go support!!! 3 pm pacific

a better test for the boys then cuba

sounds like the Japanese guys are a little better team. We'll take it as a learning experience and put it to work in LA. That's lame that the other country's are spying on us, f-ing haters.

Pezzarossi went to Italy, but he's back in Guate. Guess it turned out like Tavo.

It's a good loss though. We're playing a team who know what tactical soccer is all about, and have the speed to hang with alot of good and better soccer nations out there. This is where our guys get to see first hand the mistakes they need to correct AND where our team could be if we continue to grow as a team.

IMHO our sub-23 is top notch right now in CONCACAF. And playing teams like Japan and other teams of their caliber will take us a long way, not only talking Olympics, but also WCQ's. You have all of these other countries scouting our guys hard because we are a real threat and their terrified of our country doing well. Our boys need to stay motivated and hungry. And take this loss for what it is, a glimpse of what is out there passed the US and Mexico. And that we ARE capable of keeping up with any team out there.

from what I heard we played pretty damn good and with a proven international country like Japan we should be proud. Also, the goals from what I have heard were just mental flubs, anyway come qualifying we should be good to go and ready to take China by storm.

Who are Guatemala playing on 26th March? I heard Venezuela were interested, but they just confirmed a friendly with Bolivia instead for the 26th March.

    Here are the possibilities:

    CONCACAF
    Guyana, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique
    CONMEBOL
Only Ecuador and Uruguay don't have games lined up
    UEFA
    Only Cyprus and San Marino

We need to get a DT first. And there's still no word on who it will be.

i'd prefer "Primi" as our DT, we should know in the next couple of weeks who is gonna coach our NT.
Guyana, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique: slow growing NT in the carribean and are looking to beat a big NT.
Ecuador and Uruguay: very quick teams.
Cyprus and San Marino: would want to play in a cold area.

Primi and hit the wall again? no sir,, Kenton for Good..

now i know i haven't been posting lately and for the following reasons.
    1. I'm keeping Guatemala news and preventing any leaks from the scouts who go on bigsoccer to scout Guatemala progress ,especially with the U23's so close to Bejing 2008..

    2. and i want the concacaf to be surprised again of Guatemala like back in 2004 and 2005
