On the smaller field our slow defense will be able to hang better vs a team that will probably bunker down at the first near miss by a Quake attacker.........I say 0-0 or 0-1 for the Guats. PS-Donovan.....it's all about you baby! Showtime!
If we had our full squad, we might be able to pull it off, but without Mulrooney and the others, I don't see how we're going to accomplish much of anything, much less the two-goal win that we need. I predict that there will be a lot of time-wasting by Municipal.
Oh.....don't remind me of the Pachuca match at Spartan. How do you say "Get up pu$$y, he never touched you!!!" in Guatamalan?
3-1 Quakes. Donovan '22 Lagos '41 Guatemala '57 Donovan '79 Quakes win in overtime: Ekelund, free kick, '23 Vamos a los quarters, babeeee!!!!!!!
Ekelund is hurt and sore, Robinson is out along with Mulrooney and Dayak and DeRo. The Guats will bunker with everything they have or come out at the whistle and go for the kill right away. Either way we don't stand a snowballs chance in hell. Final: 2-0 or 1-0 Municipal
As much as I'd like to believe we can pull a win, I think we're going to get ripped to shreds. Half our team is out/injured. Slim pickins. But maybe if I think negative, I'll jinx us and we'll win.
We're in bad shape right now. Of course I pull for a win, and we might get one, but we won't beat the aggragate. The first 20 minutes of the match will determine who is going to advance.
I agree that the Quakes have to come right out and knock the guano out of 'em in the first half. If it's tied at halftime or we are behind...it's over. I think Bill summed it up best--with our full, regular squad we would pummel these guys at home but that's not what we have. I agree with the sentiment that we'll win but not enough to cover the aggregate...something like 2-1 or even 1-0 since Municipal will bunker and play keep-away all night.
