It's halftime, and the first half was crap.

We're killing ourselves with half-a$$ passes, and Gwen has given away about 5 balls simply from lack of coodination.

This game has the G's in slow motion so far.

need to see more of that

carlos ruiz's goal at the end of the game was a rarity in any part of the world, like 95% of strikers who get hit like that always stay down even if there capable of getting up,wasnt even a game winner. game was basically over and he jumps right back up and finishes from the top of the box..a lesson to all those strikers out there who dive and look like little girls every time their touched, got to give the man props, even though it shoul be that way all the time..

    thank god

see what happens when ruiz actually puts in effort and doesn't take the dive? maybe he'll start doing that more often....

I thought other than that goal, Lewis had a strong match, particularly in the second half when he looked comfortable going forward.

Also, I'm not so sure it was actually his fault on the goal. If you watch the replay, you'll see Tyrone isn't guarding anyone on the goal and I suspect that Nhklecko was his man as A) Tyrone is both bigger and more experienced than Lewis and B) it is rare that the forward would be the responsibility of the wing back and not the center back.

Albright had a crappy first half with his touch but in the second half, he showed why the brass thinks he'll be a good RB with two very nice, difficult and very different passes. Anytime a back gets two helpers, even in MLS where they pass out assists like candy, he's done some good passing.

I thought Suarez was a rock for you guys in central defense, winning everything that was sent his way and basically negating Johnson and Nhklecko. It's going to be tough to justify taking him out of the lineup when Califf comes back, though with Tyrone hurt, it could be Suarez-Califf in the middle anyway.

Bo did well in his limited time, though being fresh, that was expected. Nice to have that kind of experience on the bench.

As Waldo stated during the game, Ngwenya was crap and Cobi's insurgence clearly sparked LA's attack, as the three goals attest. If Cobi can go more than 50 minutes, you'd have to assume the right mid spot is now his.

Jovan, what can you say - was about an inch away from a hatty. The first goal was a gimmee since he was so wide open, but the second one was just a slick, heads-up play to catch Garlick off guard.

Ruiz was Ruiz, which means he wasn't dominant but still ends the day with a goal and an assist! Really is the best MLS striker ever.

I thought Grabavoy and Saragosa continued to show well in the MF but I didn't think Herzog showed too much and since his quick start, I don't think he's been all that effective, regardless of the praise Sigi continually heaps on him.

All told, a great win for the Galaxy and gets a huge monkey off their back and sends a message to the league that A) they can win away from home and B) there is more to the team than Ruiz.

BTW, anyone know why Paul Broome didn't play after two pretty good matches at left back?

This is a question, not an argument: Why doesn't Garlick get carded after the play on goal 3? Its not like hockey where a goal wipes out a penalty. I can't imagine that his tackle was not a cardable offense, in or out of the box.

Oh, and to our Board guest from Dallas, I noted how your forwards were so fast we could not cope and how your defense was so fast that Ruiz and Kiro couldn't cope. BTW: Welcome back to the real world.

Re: need to see more of that

If its in the box, he stays down.

Outside the box its a harmless foul v. a goal on a silver platter.

    Very pleasantly un-fish-like this time.

I figured Kiro would score, but not twice! The crossbar kept him from having a hat trick.

Everybody has at least one bad game in them; today was Joe's. The right side improved instantly when Cobi stepped onto the pitch, and sent a message to Joe that nothing can be taken for granted. Ngwenya has more work to do.

Grabavoy continues to impress. Not stellar, but still on an upward spiral. Same with Saragosa, but I'm not quite ready to write Pete off yet.

When is Lewis going to get it? When your keeper is covering the near post on an attacker, you have to cover your man! Had it not been for Dallas' failure to mark Kiro, we'd be resuming the "Fire Sigi" threads. I guess his experience in Mexico earlier this year wasn't humiliating enough for him and figures he can stand more.

Anybody ready to say that Albright continues to improve? Two setups for Kiro, including a nice cross from the right. And is this what Bruce envisioned when Chris was moved to right-back?

You know it's bad for the G's defense when we find ourselves glad that Bo was available after Ty wrenched his knee. Somewhere, Alexi is grinning and saying, "Gee Sigi, would I fit into your plans now?"

A nice victory over new look Dallas. It counterbalances the draw at home against DC. Compared to a road victory against a last place team, winning on the road against the (former) top team in the West shows substance in the victory. Besides, it gives Topper more ammo for the Rivalries board. :D

Nice to see pesky pescadito burn the Burn with the insurance goal after getting hit more than an NFL practice dummy.

Next milestone: back to back victories in the whites.
Long term: + .500 record this year in the whites.

    Re: thank god

if ruiz gets tackled like that at midfield he stays down and milks it. this was a case of him knowing there is an empty net he just has to pass the ball into. he'll get up for that.

p.s. garlick should have been red carded.

semi epmty net yes ,after garlick tackled him a defender did catch up and was right next to him when he got up and scored.ive seen players stay down way to many times in that situation.btw not a galaxy fan but the game was on in my area ,it sounds to me that ruiz is usually a flopper/diver.?? i seen him miss plenty chances on highlights and obviously connect alot also..

This is a huge win. They beat some co-leaders away. This road trip was an important point in the season. They needed a win to throw off the problems of last season. They have now firmly established themselves as contenders.

well that was refreshing :) after the first half i really thought we were in for another loss, we were playing crap, and yes gwen was responsible. i hope that was an aberration from him.

i was well impressed with kiro (duh) and saragosa. i'd have to split my vote for MOTM between those two. i also thought lewis and albright had more minutes of good play than bad. grabby is going to be a very good player.

jones was the smartest player on the pitch, just incredibly clever touches. if he can play like that he's got another few years in him.

overall a very good 2nd half, much more like the galaxy i know and love.

oh and how about sigi subbing in an attacking player when we were 2-1 up? you have to admit that's not very sigi-like. i was expecting him to bunker completely, trying to preserve the win just to get that monkey off our back.

finally to carlos... good on yer mate, say what you want about the take down being outside the box, or it should have been a PK, or whatever, i thought ruiz showed real class there to finish that goal.

Beautiful breakaway goal by Ruiz. I love his determination. He got his feet taken out from under him and he got right up and put the ball away. Very classy player,he has a lot of heart.

Carlos Ruiz = Toughest Bastard in MLS!

Not only should Garlick have gotten a red card, but an audition at Strong Safety for the Dallas Cowboys with that hit!

I'd disagree on the red card. Ruiz scored. Can't say Garlick was denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when the goal-scoring opportunity obviously wasn't denied.

has nothing to do with if he scored or not, couldve easily been a red card.

I'm not a big Lewis basher like some and find it strange that Lewis takes all the heat for this goal. How the hell did O'Brian just waltz in all alone with nobody within 5 yards of him? You give a decent player that much time and space and good or bad things are going to happen, depending on what team you support. That was a bad defensive effort all around and Lewis shouldn't take all the blame.

    Oh...and....great victory for the Gs!

I said it on another board and I'll say again here. The Gs not only came from behind to win this away game, but someone other than Ruiz scored the opening and winning goals. That is good news!

Kenny Arena would have looked like Zidane against the pathetic excuse for a midfield Dallas fielded today. Congrats to Ned on his part in the ass-stomping.

man..... great second half. Ngwenya played like ass. there were times in the first half when i'd cringe when the Gs started an attack down the right side. good to see Grabavoy is filling in nicely. damn i'm glad this road crap is over with..... that was starting to get annoying:)
