    these guys again so soon?

start of a 4 game road trip. we need no less than 6 points IMO.

'Zog and Chris will be back.

Grabby's playing well. Kiro is due a goal or two.

Bring it Bitches. You can never rest easy.

We have to get some serious points on this road trip.

We're only 2 points ahead of the Whizz, who have played well on the road.

The upcoming road stretch will really define the team's ability to challenge for the cup - - anything resembling last year's road debacle will show that we're not ready for prime time.

    GO GALAXY!!!

If Califf, Vagenas and Saragosa are still out with injury, then I think the only real question, as far as the line-up goes, is whether Sigi starts Paul Broome or Chris Aloisi. Here's what I think we'll see:

    ------------Hartman-------------
    Albright--Suarez--Marshall--Aloisi (or Broome)
    -----------Victorine--------------
    --Cobi-----Herzog------Grabavoy-
    -------Ruiz------Kirovski---------

Defense starting to gel and Herzog coming off a week and a half of rest gives me reason to be optomistic. Call me crazy but the x-factor in this game could be Kirovski. He's been sub-par the past couple of weeks, and I don't think we can count on getting a couple more of those strange free-kick goals. Ruiz will be a marked man with Mastroeni all over him, which means Kirovski needs to step up. If he does, I think we win this 2-1...

Four-game road trip. If we can get points against the west-conf. teams on this trip, then we'll be in good shape...

sigi has named danny to the all star team, so i can't imagine he won't join us for at least part of this road trip (maybe USOC and the metros game).

i think with herzog back we can take 3 points in colorado and probably do well against new york.

the key game though has to be against KC, we need a point there, but ideally i'd like to see us lay down some heavy duty payback.

I really really like this starting 11. Except for one position (I'll leave that at that).

Okay, can't. What about Aloisi at stopper and Broome in back??

This Colorado game will be hard. We basically got fairly lucky to leave with a win on our home field. That midget Spencer has more skill than anyone else on his team. Damn, hell of a shot that bounced off the wood.

Let's see if Herzog comes back fresh and if Ruiz finds his form coming back from injury.

AND I totally agree that the KC game is THE one of the road trip. Just win that and eek out 2 ties and I am a happy fan.

Whats the status for TV on this game.

www.lagalaxy.com always list kcal9 as showing their games, and then surprise they dont!!

so is kwhy22 the only option for TV?

But that would leave Victorine without anywhere to play...you don't seriously think that Sigi would leave Sasha on the bench, do you?

I also agree- LA v KC will be the key match. When all is said and done, that game could determine the winner in the west...

    A) Califf has been replaced on the All-Star game roster, thus implying he won't be ready to play till at least after the break and B) LA doesn't play the Metros till after the break. The schedule goes as follows:

    Wed., 7/14: @COL
    Sat., 7/17: DCU
    Tue., 7/20: @Minnesota (USOC)
    Sat., 7/24: @KC
    Sat., 7/31: All-Star Game (@DC)
Wed., Aug. 4 USOC Quarterfinals (TBA, if necessary)
    Sun., 8/8: @NY/NJ
    Sat., 8/14: CLB

Man, that's a brutal stretch. I think Galaxy fans are gonna see all of the players, favorite and otherwise just because they are playing so many games.

(BTW, is there any word about against whom, and where, the USOC QF would be if they beat the Thunder?)

Remember last year when Albright had his breakout game @ Colorado? Maybe we'll see an outbreak game for Kiro on Wed. night.

Good question. The Angels aren't playing. Perhaps KWHY are willing to show it delay for those who really want to watch it while KCAL wasn't.

He didn't play Bo on Korean Heritage Night this past Saturday so I don't see why he can't do the same with Victorine. He did okay at the DM on Saturday, so perhaps Sigi may give him another shot and also let Saragosa know that he needs to compete for his spot.

I am at the game tonite at Invesco field...will see, if we have the luck on our side again. Here is, what I am thinking: homeadvantage for the Rapids will be outweight by having Andy and Chris back. I would think it will be a draw...or whoevers keeper can't pick a 5 mile per hour ball from the line will be the loser. Close to 100 Fahrenheit here...will impact the pace of the game...and the standard situations are what Sigi is banking on.
I have three big flags with me: Guatemala, Austria and--so they don't kill me--Scotland ;-)
    Well, fasten your seat belts...

...and thanks for the warm welcome, have been reading the posts on and off the last 6 month...great discussions..

BTW: Andy's Rapid Wien team won 5:1 on the road...against Bregenz, is the first game in a new season in Austria, should cheer him up. :)

You're at Invesco field? How do you type so well with the oxygen mask on?

And, after last game, I see the Scott scoring tonight. Hopefully, we score early and then bunker as our players lungs collapse.

Have fun and yell at Mastroeni for me when he takes Ruiz down.

Seems to me Crapids have an awful lot of bodies around our box but we are countering pretty well. Suarez has had a real good half on D. He seems to be breaking up a lot in and around the box. Carlos should have at least one goal. Nobody is playing like a liability and the bad guys really haven't challenged Hartman so I guess we should be happy w/ that on the road but damn we should have a goal.

thanks to wmp being a POS on the mac i couldn't watch the game, just joe's play by play which sounded a lot like this:

[galaxy defender] intercepts the ball and passes to [another galaxy defener]. [same galaxy defender] attempts to get the ball to [galaxy midfielder] but it's intercepted by [rapids midfielder/forward]. [rapids midfielder/forward] takes it to the top of the box and [loses possession || shoots high ? wide || tackled by galaxy defender].

    interceded frequently by

and [galaxy || rapids player] sends the ball out of touch for a throw in [!galaxy || !rapids].

we got a point though. i'd be thrilled with a point against DC and a win against KC. rest and a win against the mertons.

    Snore...huh huhu? Is it over?

LA: Grabavoy remains bright spot. The #10 for the coming years?

Crapids: Their two best passes were from Suarez. Wonderful backheel! Nuf said.

A rather dull match overall. A few good serves inside the box by both sides but all were not converted. Hartman is my MOTM for making great saves to preserve a shutout. The goalpost is a close second.

Victorine played the DM again and I say stick him there. He seems better suited to play there than the wing. The backline was rather shaky with some non-markings that lead to dangerous plays.

Grabavoy is the frontrunner to be our playmaker. Memo who?

The stupid thing about that backheel pass by Suarez was that he was trying to get it to Albright who was behind him in an angle, but instead passed straight back and too hard. Perhaps if Albright would have gone to the sideline instead of the goal line, that error would've never occured.

Anyone think Ruiz embellished again? I'm talking about the push he got from Borchers which resulted in him landing on the ball. Now granted landing on the ball to the gut can be painful, but seriously now, grabbing your lower back while writhing in pain when the defender didn't even push that hard? Maybe it's from last week, but this foul appeared to be overt drama again.

Albright was in the perfect supporting position. Going to the sideline leaves no protection of the goal. Just face the facts, Suarez sucks so bad, he can't even block a player out and make a simple pass to his own player. Why do a stupid backheel like that near the goal, It was crap. I almost wish they had scored just so Sigi would bench his stupid a$ for a few games.

    Re: TV for Game

KWHY is the outlet for some home games, and away games that aren't on Saturdays. This was as scheduled. We can't afford prime time weekdays on KCAL. Or we would displace their wonderful, I dunno, something they would show. 9 on the town?

Man, Salazar hates our guys. This is the guy that required 4 security folks to get off the pitch last year.

Perhaps Albright was in the perfect position, but what about the other players to help protect the goal? Bring them back to mark players and actually play some D.
