Too bad all three of the G games I already have tickets to be in the stands. Regal CineMedia Brings MLS To the Big Screen - MLSnet
Sweet and interesting. Think I'll head down to Irvine for the DC-Colorado match. I may do the same for the Galaxy-SJ match since I don't have a ticket for that and it's cheaper to go to the theater.
Let me know if your gonna go ROK! I'm down for checking out the D!ckCraversUnited vs Culorosado match.
I'm Definitely Going This sounds absolutely amazing... Getting to watch a MLS game on a 4 story high (40 feet) screen!!!! Imagine seeing Ruiz, Cobi, or any other MLS players ( from Colorado, DC, san jose? and LA) on that big of a screen... I AM DEFINITELY GOING!! GREAT NEWS!
June 11 is my cousin's graduation but thankfully it's in the afternoon so I'll be able to go, unless something else happens. Maybe we could meet up at the sports bar there before the game & knock some brews. Say, do you think anyone might be bothered that people might actually sing & chant at the theater?
Awright, so who's going to the Irvine Spectrum this Wednesday? Kickoff is at 6:30 PM. I plan on being at Fox Sports Grill beforehand and then watch the DC-COL match on the big screen.
Was the HDNet experience cool? I'd be curious to hear from people who went to the theatre---what was the experience of watching a game in high-def on a big screen like? Was it worth the admission? Was the atmosphere lively? Was the production nice? Would you recommend it? Would you go again if the rest of the matches weren't home games for you? I know it's probably really tempting to lob some wisecracks at me about how piss-poor the Rapids played, but you can save those wisecracks until our teams meet again next month
I went with a three others and we were surprised by the turnout of about 15 people; we'd thought it be lower. Now I can see why people hype up HDTV; the picture is crystal clear and listening to it in the theater sound system was nice. It's the first time I was able to talk & yell during a "movie" and not get lectured to. I'd only go back if it was a G's away game or some other highly-anticipated match. DC-COL was rather bland until the final 20 minutes. That was comedy with Trembly.
15 paid admissions can't be worth opning a theater for. Can't see that there would ever be much call for non-LAG games.
I'd like to see how they do next week when they show the Quakes @ Victoria Street match. It might be higher than 15 because it's a weeknight and OC'ers won't have to hassle with traffic & it's cheaper than going to the actual match, however it can only be higher if they market this for which I have seen none in the local media.
Official REG attendance thread undergroundfc posted that they had maybe about 100 there for Wed. night. Wow. It most likely was because it catered to those who couldn't make it to Carson in time, but that's a good turnout. Maybe they should start thinking about broadcasting Galaxy away matches there. Granted you can't have a brew while watching, but that's why Champs Americana sports bar is so conveniently located across the way!
