I'm glad that France won today, but they need to be sharper defensively. They could have easily scored 6 or 7 today. I'm glad that Dembele scored a hat-trick. It will be good for his confidence. I see him being a decisive player the deeper we go into the tournament. Mbappe will have been disappointed not to score -- I expect him to be back with a vengeance in the Round of 32.

 

They still need 2 of these 5 things to qualify:

• Egypt to beat / tie Iran
• Algeria vs Austria to produce any winner
• Uzbekistan to beat / tie DR Congo
• Ghana to beat Croatia
• Group H 3rd place to have 3 points or less (Spain to beat / tie Uruguay and Cape Verde - Saudi Arabia produces any winner)

Korea needs 3 of these 5 to happen

 

Cape Verde v Saudi does not matter for Senegal unless Uruguay beats Spain. Then Senegal would have to hope for a draw in that match.

 

It's actually very smart what the Norway manager did. They play CIV in 3 days with CIV getting an extra day rest. 3 days isn't much. They could have lined up their first team and still most likely would have lost and even a draw they still finish 2nd. What is the point of that and tiring your players out ? It's a good call for them.

 

I’d say Group H and Egypt to beat and tie Iran are the most likely. Also Iran can beat Egypt if Belgium & New Zealand draw.

Austria vs Algeria to produce a winner? Honestly unlikely. I expect they play cautiously and for a draw.

Uzbekistan to take anything from DR Congo I also find very unlikely.

Ghana beat Croatia? I highly doubt it.

 

Norway - Ivory Coast is going to be a really exciting game. I expect lots of chances and shots on goal.

 

How did they have that match up fixed already ? Looks like FIFA doing their best to make USAs run as easy as possible.

 

We have not beaten a European team in five years. So it is not a slam dunk. But yes, we should be favored.
I don’t think it will be an easy path though.
