The unexpected results of this WC are whacking office prodes everywhere. All my coworkers betted for spain to win 6-0, 7-0 (i predicted 3-0 ) against cabo verde for sure? LOL, i guess not. Screwing us all. All in all very unexpected results Spain was bad, they need to get better if they want to be contenders
Fluke Result. Spain will come back. Don’t right them off. Credit to Cape Verde as they fought hard, but it was overall a fluke.
It wasn't a fluke, its a trend. Iraq and Egypt both drew against Spain. Spain didnt even really create any good chances all match.
That's not entirely true. There were at least 2 point-blank chances in the first half that I recall. One off the crossbar and the other resulting in a diving save, low to the keeper's right. Both chances should have been finished off. Plus a bunch of half chances. That's why they had a fairly high xG. Time will tell if this WC will be a repeat of Russia 2018 when they couldn't ever get it together or South Africa 2010 when they recovered after a blip in their first match.
⚔️🇺🇾🇸🇦 ¡FORMACIONES CONFIRMADAS PARA URUGUAY Y ARABIA SAUDITA!¿Tendrán un buen arranque los dirigidos por Bielsa? ¿Arabia logrará sorprender como en 2022? ¿Cómo la ven? pic.twitter.com/X4Zdv42yZM— Nahuel Lanzón (@nahuelzn) June 15, 2026
Nunez may be horrible at club level but Uruguay needs him to play. He usually does play well for his country.
Fun facts being mentioned by Telemundo Saudi Arabia only has one player not playing in their domestic league. Uruguay conversely has no player from Uruguay on its roster. (First time ever for them. )
Rotterdam players and Dutch born: Laros Duarte (Puskás Akadémia) Deroy Duarte (Ludogorets) Jamiro Monteiro (PEC Zwolle) Garry Rodrigues (Apollon Limassol) Dailon Livramento (Casa Pia) Sidny Lopes Cabral (Benfica) The Dutch Cabo Verdians are as Dutch as Ruud....only not as good
The regular top ten countries are tournement fighters that grow into the tournement. Loosing or drawing the first match for those countries only means they have to turn up the effort in the next two matches. The number of times the regular top nations get eliminated in the group stage can be counted on the fingers of one hand in the last 40 years.
None of those shots were really good chances except for maybe 1 or 2. Yeah fotmob says Big Chances Missed was 2-1 for Spain.
Seriously CONMEBOL with the exception of Brazil is a joke this tournament. I expect Colombia and Argentina to underwhelm and disappoint too.
Looks like the resting of players by Spain and Uruguay in this Group finale narrative around here has been greatly exaggerated.
