We are one week away from the next step in this process, so I thought this would be a good time to start a group G thread on the subject.

On October 21 Preliminary rosters are due to be sent to FIFA.
    • Preliminary rosters (or "release lists") can include up to 55 players
    • Preliminary rosters are not released to the public by FIFA, each Confederation can decide to release theirs or not
The final roster must be announced by November 14
    • Rosters are between 23 and 26 players and must be made of players listed in the preliminary roster
    • Up to 15 players are allowed on the bench, so no cuts have to be made for matchday rosters
After the final rosters are submitted, if a player is injured they can be replaced up to 24 hours before a team's first match.

    Some other notes:

The final day for league play ahead of the World Cup is November 13.
La Liga plays their last game before the break on Nov 9.

I invite everyone to post the preliminary rosters, if revealed, next week, and to update us on any major absences due to injury ahead of the tournament. And of course, to post the final roster when announced.

    Some info for Brazil:

During the press conference for the September call-up, Tite said he might release the preliminary roster for Brazil, but there was a change in tune this week and it now looks like it won't be revealed at all.

Tite will announce the final roster on November 7 at a press conference in Rio before traveling to Italy on November 9. Brazil will train in Turin for a few days before heading to Qatar.

Injury absences: As of now, Guilherme Arana is the notable absence. He was injured ahead of the September friendlies and will be out for months. He was the likely back-up left-back at the time.

Diego Carlos, injured at the beginning of the season and out for months with a ruptured achilles, might have made the 55-man roster, but was not expected to make the final roster.

I missed 5/26 from the prediction I did 5 months ago:

Introduce WC-22 Teams Here: XI, Best Players, Strengths and Weaknesses

Some got injured (Arana, Coutinho). Others I just failed (Gabriel, Danilo, Cunha). Maybe I underestimated Flamengo?

Picking Martinelli is pointless IMO. Don't know what Tite is looking for there, should have taken an additional midfielder.
