Watching the Italy goals, I realized that our Defence is WAY better than Germany's. We probrobly would have beat Germany(IN GERMANY) if we had our A squad.

Our Defence is way better than Germany's. We wouldn't have let 3 of those goals in.

We would have beat Germay(pretty handedly) if we had our A team.

That's a pretty foolish assumption to make.

Which part is foolish? That the US has a way better defense? That the US would have won? Or that the US would have won handedly?

I would say that the US with its top players would most likely have beaten Germany last month. The only thing that would have kept the US from beating Germany would have been Kahn. The guy is like a brick wall infront of the goal. Even with an outstanding performance by Kahn, I don't think that the US would have gotten out of there without at least a draw. That being said, that is definately not handedly.

I didn't see the Italy-Germany game, but from what I have heard, Germany's defense played rather sloppily. You have to give Italy credit for taking advantage of Germany's mistakes, but to assume that the US would make them also is a falicy.

assuming we'd beat Germany in Germany is stupid. Assuming it would be handedly, that's even more stupid.

Look at our record in Europe to start.

Kahn is no longer the Germany goalie. It is now Lehman of Arsenal.

Well, I guess I'm stupid. Evidently, too stupid to know that I'm stupid. Luckily, according to you, I'm not even more stupid though. (What a relief!)

The assumption came based upon how the squad that we did send played against Germany. The score was 0-0 at the half and the majority of the goals that the US gave up were the result of the type of mistakes that players green to international soccer, playing a full squad on their home turf, are likely to make. Our full squad is not going to make those mistakes and would have presented a much stronger attack.

One US defender basically passed the ball to a German player, setting him up for a 1v1 situation with the goalie. That would definitely not have happened!

The above assumption was only in regards to that particular game. Come WC time, things may be totally different, but I'm pretty stupid so I could be wrong.

I know. I was only commenting on that particular game. In that game, Kahn played goalie the entire match.

I agree with Polar Bear. Us had no one there playing for them...to compare our team to the Germans wouldnt be fair for either team. no one knows who would of won or tied or lost but I agree that our seasoned players that we not there wouldnt have had a melt done in only a exhibition match with no real meaning. Germans could have one for all I care but its just not fair to compare the teams. I especially mean that for all the Italians saying that since they destroyed Germany and germany beat us means anything. And to the few poor Polish players, That was an amazing match with both of our squads almost full up with our true starters, It was great and fun, and you guy i think have a great team. Doesnt mean crap though that we won. It was a ture good match intense all the way and only 1-0, really how a match should be played. Good Luck in WC Poland. Not so much for the Italians, Czechs or Ghanians(???).

it is one thing to think about what would be possible, but the bold part is just ignorant! why do you think so? when was the last time usa beat germany? because germany lost to italy you think you would at least draw with them? like you did with jamaica?
