Heard Mexico had a friendly with Hungary yesterday and won 2-0. Anyone watch the match? Did Mexico look dangerous?

It worked for me. That was great. Thanks. Some nice skill shown by Mexico in some of the plays. Bad defending on both goals though. Actually some of the nicer plays were on ones that Mexico did not score on. They were really nice plays.

Yeah it worked. From the highlights I didn't find the Mexican play all that threatening. Wonder what our Mexican friends have to say about the performance.

ps: thanks for the link Team Melli

Team Melli kinda summed it up, it wasn't Mexico's A team, so you couldn't really expect much. and hungary was a man down so you might contribute their loss to that... all in all, it wasn't too meaningful even to the Mexico fans. But hey, i guess the B and half team beating hungary 2-0 serves some purpose, it might help make mexico's bench a little deeper. I don't think Mexico should waste their time playing teams that couldn't even qualify for the world cup... They have some quality friendlies coming up though, hopefully they use the A team

lol well said, Nero. Check the "Mexico National Team" forum and look at the thread that discusses Mexico's starting line-up, aka their A team. It should obviously conssist of sanchez, raf marquez, salcido, moralles, borgetti, blanco, and fonseca. Other than that it's a bit of a controversy but those are the solid "A" team players! :D I do agree though, Mexico needs to play good teams in friendlies (which they are in 2006) and need to use their full team to see what works and what doesn't.

Well, I can tell you what is NOT the A team

    - Sandoval (he has to keep that green shirt, because he is not going to wear it again)
    - Olvera (think 2010)
    - Guardado (hope he makes it)
    - Alberto Rodriguez
    - Claudio Suarez (think retirement)
    - Joel Huiqui
    - Gringo Castro
    - Juan Carlos Medina (who is this guy??, I am not bashing, I just don't know him)

    And then some bench warmers
    -Corona
-Ochoa (hope he beats Moises for the third spot)
    -Maza
    -Bofo

The only starters I saw where Kikin and probably torrado

Well, that is six games more than Iran has scheduled! I hope for Iran's sake, they arrange for some "intelligent" friendly games.

Soon you'll have the "friendly market" cornered.

No one else can get to play friendlies because Mexico have them all. ;)

    Re: Group D friendly matches

Yeah the reason people say that is because it would be reasonable for both teams. Since Spain has a similar style as Portugal does Iran would like to play Spain. And also since Spain is going to play Saudi Arabia they might want to play a middle eastern team although Iran's style is MUCH different. But again this is nothing more than a rumor.
