Saudi Arabia scored in the 85th and 90th minutes for a 3-2 win at Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan will fall to third if Palestine wins at Yemen. Even if Palestine doesn't win, Uzbekistan will not be one of the second place teams in position to advance after today. Today makes every team half done.

Saudi Arabia lead with 8 points, Uzbekistan on 6 hold second. Yemen have 5, Palestine and Singapore have 4 each.

    Uzbekistan 2 Palestine 0
    Yemen 1 SIngapore 2

    Uzbekistan 9
    Saudi Arabia 8
    Singapore 7
    Yemen 5
    Palestine 4

Yemen missed an opportunity in this round of matches and will find it hard to make the top 2. Teams are taking points off each other and if this continues makes it harder for whoever comes second. This group could come down to the last round when Saudi Arabia host Uzbekistan.

    Saudi Arabia 3 Yemen 0
    Uzbekistan 5 SIngapore 0

    Saudi Arabia 14 (+12)
    Uzbekistan 12 (+11)
    Palestine 7 (-3)
    Singapore 7 (-12)
    Yemen 5 (-8)

Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan have the top 2 spots sown up and unless Uzbekistan slip up against Yemen the group will be decided on the last day when they play each other. A complicating factor is that last place isn't decided either and Yemen could still sneak past Singapore and maybe even Palestine into 3rd place. If Yemen avoid last and Uzbekistan wins the group then it makes the Saudi's job of being one the best 5 second place teams a bit harder as they dropped points to Yemen.

Looking at current form of KSA and playing all matches at home, it is safe to say KSA will advance as group winners..

What do you think of your chances against Uzbekistan? A lot of teams from the other groups will probably be Saudi fans for that game.

Uzbekistan have never been a trouble for us especially in the home games. Looking at the current form of KSA, we might end up beating them with high score..

Saudi Arabia hardly beat Singapore tonight and had boiling nerves till Salem scored the opening goal.

I believe Salem Al Dowsary is going to miss the last match against Uzbekistan due to 2 yellow cards so who will replace him? Also, Abdellelah Al Malki also has 2 yellow cards so he will miss the match as well. Saudi Arabia should play with 2 forwards against Uzbekistan

Also, Uzbekistan is much strong (body wise) and fast game playing side so Saudi Arabia will find it tough to beat them...

On a separate note, why is Ali Al Asmari in the team?... He seemed like school boy playing the match. Slow in passing, no off the ball movement, no creativity.

Singapore parked the bus after two embarrassing defeat. If they had played open game then it would have been another one.

Abdullah Otayf will be back so Ali Asmari will be replaced. Salem will be replaced by Mohammed Al Kuwaikbi or Abdul Rahman Ghareeb.

What you say is logical, except that since we get to finish our game (Iran/Iraq) before Saudi-Uzbek game is finished, I guess I will prefer to wait and see. If Iran wins the group by beating Iraq, I will definitely won't be rooting for the Saudis (who I blame for much of the problems Iran faces in the AFC).

Here we go again. Stopping blaming others (including Saudi) for your own incompetency, failures and drawbacks. Iran is themselves to be blamed for lack of success as sometimes your FA was not doing right things and sometimes your coach was the problem. Iran is stronger team in Asian but it doesn't mean that Iran will have easy ride to success. Similar problem was faced by Saudi but they didn't blame Iran or any other country for their internal problems. So be mature enough to find out your troubles and resolve them instead of blaming Saudi Arabia or any other. Right now you beat Bahrain 3-0 fair and square, and whatever problems you faced are now being faced by Bahrain & Kuwait. They are not complaining about others but trying to resolve themselves internally.

BTW, how is the group going to be decided?

Will the final standing be counted after excluding result against 5th place team? OR
Will the count overall points to decide group winners first, and then 5th place team's points will be deducted from 2nd place team to determine best 5 2nd place teams among all the groups?

I believe Saudi Arabia has already qualified to the next round since if 4 points from Saudi Arabia's existing total of 17 points are excluded (as KSA acquired 4 points against both Palestine and Yemen, respectively) so KSA ends up on 13 points. While current 2nd best teams in each group (excluding China & Lebanon) can get maximum 12 points if/when they win their last match. China and Lebanon can get 13 points if they win the last match. So, by default, Saudi Arabia are already in the next round.

But, if Yemen wins and Uzbekistan wins then Saudi Arabia will be in deep trouble since Saudi Arabia will end up with 11 points (after deducting result against Singapore) so, Saudi will be mercy on results in other groups to qualify in top 5 2nd best teams

Final standings are based on all results. Then the teams who finish second have the results against the 5th placed teams for comparison against other second placed teams.

Yes. If Yemen wins by 11 or fewer goals, Singapore will be last. If Saudi Arabia is trailing, I think they will want to score to get a win or draw to win the group even if they can advance with a loss. If Saudi Arabia is tied and knows they will be eliminated with a loss, they could focus on defense at the end. Every possibly relevant game for Saudi Arabia starts at least one hour earlier except for Palestine vs. Yemen and China vs. Syria at the same time.

As expected KSA beat Uzbekistan comfortably. All to play in the Round 3 with some new faces in the qualifiers. Vietnam, Lebanon, Syria will light up the qualifiers hopefully.

If KSA maintains momentum, then they can easily get to WC but its too early to say now..

Syria did pretty good last time. they had no home games and came within a width of the goal post against us in the playoff. I'm pretty sure if that last minute shot had gone in rather than out then they would have accounted for Honduras and made the world cup.

This is the second time Lebanon qualified to the third round of Asia world cup qualifiers.

South Korea and Australia are expected to be in the same pot. Which one do you prefer to be drawn with out of these two for the next round of World Cup qualifiers South Korea or Australia?

Historically South Korea never been a trouble for us so I would prefer them but its obviously the final round so teams will be always on top.

But my gut feeling tells me KSA,Iran and Qatar will be drawn in same group.

Qatar does not participate in the next round of World Cup qualifiers. My gut feeling tells me KSA, South Korea, and China will be drawn in the same group and Iran will be drawn with Australia, Uae, and Iraq.

The pot number corresponds to the position the team will be placed in the group.
