Turkey & South Korea in 2002 come to mind. Bulgaria in 1994. If semis are the bar. Costa Rica's run to the QFs was pretty darn impressive. Ghana ALMOST made the semis in 2010 save for the Saurez handball save.
Turkeys path was much easier than Morocco's. Korea was the host nation and had a lot of help from the refs.
They are much better than I expected. They even went toe to toe with Brazil and only lost 3-0. Scotland lost by the same score playing defensive. I hope they can build on this and do something at the Gold Cups.
Probably should do better. Morocco may not be like those other teams because they have good young talent that they let France and Spain and Netherlands develop. I mean Turkey does similar with Germany though but they obviously are not doing as well in youth tournaments and do not have the same defensive grit.
The problem with this kind of teams (like Curaçao as well) is that many dual nationals only show up for the World Cup or the wc qualifiers. We likely won’t see this Haiti players in the Gold Cup & Nations League
We will see. They should build on this and try to qualify for the extended Copa that is yet again rumored.
