Canada has had their chances. Just cannot put it in the goal.

    Final 2-1

    Switzerland get’s first.

Canada no longer a home team by finishing second.

    3-1 Bosnia.
They wait to see what they will do next in third place.

Canada created some presentable chances at 1-2 but couldn't finish them off.

Now Bosnia have qualified I believe - with Turkey already eliminated - only Czechia and Scotland risk to be grouped from the UEFA teams..

Kind of a great achievement for the Canucks but would they have qualified in a 32 team tournament? We will never know.

But yes, they did what they had to do.

Predictions were mainly on point. As I expected Canada would play well but not be able to finish and would conceded too much. Happened both against Bosnia and Switzerland. Only thing is that Canada edged out Bosnia on goal difference thanks to comical and unusual Qatari display resulting in 2 red cards. Whether Canada goes to round of 16 or not will largely rely on strength and style of opponent in round of 32.

It would be extremely hard for the hosts to not get to the 2nd round. They're playing at home, in groups with no real seeded teams, and most of the 3rd place teams advance.

Even though they lost today Canada gets a victory.
Playing South Africa in the round of 32?

That is a gift. They should be favored to make it to the Round of 16. Incredible.

Yes. South Africa is the weakest team in the round of 32. It will be a close game, but I think given Canada's better quality Canada will edge out SA, though it is not a guarantee. But then in round of 16 for sure it will be the end of the tournament for Canada due to playing Netherlands or Morocco.

If Eustaquio can play the full match Canada will win, otherwise I think the midfield will once again be a big struggle.

Comfortably #3 in CONCACAF though Panama are difficult.

Missing Davies, Bombito, and now Kone is a lot.

Still cannot get the elimination by Guatemala last Summer out of my mind. So comfortable third team is difficult for me to say but it might be true.

We topped CONCACAF last cycle with a significantly worse team so I don't see why we wouldn't have qualified this time.

#3 or #2? Honestly Canada so far looked better to me than Mexico when I watched both teams, considering their opponents and how they played. Mexico had a really weak group.

I think for CONCACAF right now, it’s:

    1. United States
    2. Canada
    3. Mexico
    4. Curaçao
    5. Haiti
    6. Costa Rica
    7. Panama
    8. Honduras
    9. Jamaica

Not to mention Promise isn't fully healthy (miles better than Larin/Tani), and Layrea/Ahmed/Johnston/Cornelius etc were all injured heading into the tournament. Its been pretty catastrophic injury-wise over the past couple months. J. David, Buchanan and Crepeau are the only Best XI players who haven't had injury issues within the last month.

The thing is Canada never really beats Mexico in head -to - head big matches recently or historically so it is tough for me to have them ahead of Mexico.
But most of the matches are home crowd atmospheres for Mexico so it is difficult to judge.

didn’t Canada beat Mexico at least once and finish above them in 2022 World Cup qualification?

Historically Mexico are the more successful team and even above the USA; but I think right now the USA and Canada are in better form and have better players than Mexico.

They have to prove it in Gold Cups and next qualifying. I think Mexico is barely better or about the same level.
