Pick your group B all-star team.
These are my all-stars:
-----------------------------------Isaksson (Swe)-------------------------

--Neville (Eng)----Terry (eng)-----------Ferdinand (Eng)----Cole (Eng)

-----------------------Lampard (Eng)--Gerrard (Eng)-----------------------------------Ljungberg (Swe)----------------Rooney (Eng)------------------

----------------Ibrahimovic (Swe)-------Owen (Eng)

Rooney plays like Tomas Brolin in the 1994 WC ( a free role)

I know too little of Paraguay to pick an all-star team, but I'm not sure that Ljungberg or Isak would get into mine... sad but true

exactly how? You really expect T&T to field a player in the Group B allstar team? They wont score a goal. I mean, if you are having trouble with bahrain you wont do much against great competition.

I mean there isn't a player from the other 3 countries that would get in England's side.

Zlatan would be the closest, but even he wouldn't.

He would. Wasn't he voted the best player in Serie A last season, he's the sort of player you'd make room for.

Well, believe it or not there's actually a fourth team in the group. Its a country called Paraguay. Its situated in South America. They've made the second round of the last two World Cups. In 1998 they advanced in front of two european teams in what was the group of death (Spain, Bulgaria, Paraguay, Nigeria). In 2002, they came from behind down a man to beat another European team and take the second spot behind Spain. Underestimate them at your own peril.

As for Trinidad and Tobago, just keep on dismissing us... ;)

Zlatan definetly would go before Owen! You seem to think that if an english player is good he's suddenly the best in the world.
If i would make a dream-team eleven only one swede would take a place and thats Ibrahimovic. He's been the most influencial player in Juventus and that is one of the top teams in Europe!

So far all you've done is bitch about other peoples choices - why don't you astound us with your insight and tell us what your 11 would be......

Well I guess I can reserve the right to be as biased as everyone else right?

-----------------Jack-----------------
--Gray----Lawrence------Andrews-----A. John
---------------Whitley---------------
---------Birchall------Yorke-------------
---Edwards------Latapy
-----------------S. John------------------

The only reason I'm 'bitching' as you put it is because I see people on here posting all star 11's while admitting outright ignorance of 2 of the teams in the group and sometimes 3.

Of course Rooney and Ibrahimovich will make that all star 11. And of course if we're talking all star in terms of biggest names, then Gerrard and Lampard are automatically going to be there as well as 4/5 of the England team. But does that justify being as biased as some of the posters I've seen?

What I'd like is if anyone has the information to make a competent position by position analysis, involving all candidates from all 4 teams to explain why one particular player will automatically get the pick. I'll welcome it.
I can't. That's why i'll content myself to 'bitching'. But the point is, this thread is useless, and is only going to end up another england-sweden pissing contest. Like everything else about this group. :(

Pity there aren't more paraguay fans on here...

Ibra and Santa Cruz are both better, Rooney mabey instead of Santa Cruz, but Ibra is the best attacker in group B

Teddy Lucic is 32

I haven't seen Diego Gavilan this year, im not sure about him, mabey Dos Santos can play there instead of him.

If Teddy Lucic can make it on a *relatively* unbiased all star eleven I feel less shy about nominating Marvin 'Dog' Andrews, of Glasgow Rangers for central defender. :D

Zlatan and Rooney wouldn't work well together, it would be better to have Zlatan or Rooney with Owen.

I'd pick Rooney over Zlatan.
Let each country pick 6 or 7 of its best players, and from them we'll choose (by vote or consensus, I guess), the All Star XI for the group, and five substitues. Then at the end of the group stage we'll see how good we were at predicting the best players in the group. It will also help us to get to know the stars from the opposing teams, so that we know whom to pay attention to during the games.
I'll do it for Trinidad and Tobago (take notes people  )

Starters:
Dennis Lawrence (if you want a decent central defender that can score)/Marvin Andrews (if you want a rock hard central defender) CB
Aurthis Whitley LMF
Christopher Birchall DMF
Dwight Yorke AMF
Carlos Edwards RMF
Stern John CF

Super Sub:
Russell Latapy AMF

I think Zlatan and larsson would work best cuz they played togheter and understands eachother but if zlatan was to play with someone else my choice would be owen without a doubt. Zlatan we must play so we have to play a forward most compatible with him. That would be owen.

Owen's better than Santa Cruz.

Sana Cruz has 36 caps and 10 goals, Owen has 75 caps and 35 goals. Let's not even bother looking at their club form.

Rooney's better than Ibrahimovic too.
