From 60 Minutes, which aped Frontline, which rightfully borrowed from an article published with RED HERRING, astory about the nation of Bhutan...A different model for us to discuss, one that doesn't have the masses running after useless and shite product all the damn time, but rather has them 'chasing' enlightenment...

I can't find an example of anyone chasing enlightenment. What model in this story are you talking about? The one that will train the people to produce software for the world market?

Houston has the fattest people. I didn't want to start up my own thread so i'm hijacking this one since it's about consumption.

It amuses me that this is probably hailed as a virtue by many since we aren't at war with Bhutan and it's a way of preserving traditional culture. When people are forced to wear certain things by a regime (i.e. Taliban) that isn't on our Christmas card list, then it's evil and oppressive.

In Universal's world, your figures are a positive for Bhutan. Humans are polluters, and thus bad for the environment. Left-wing lunatic logic.

I think it was refering to the comment where the King forces the people to be poor and happy.
