Check out these pendejaos lol http://m.bleacherreport.com/article..._campaign=programming-national?is_shared=true
Breaking out in zits maybe. Lawl. Seriously, Zuckerberg? Out of all the less ridiculous examples he could have given. For fuk's sake.
If population had absolutely all to do with having futbol talent then countries like India and China would be the Brazils and Italys of the world.
They got outplayed by Belgium on any aspect of the game yet some of them got the nerve to say that they were very close LOL
The writer of the article Paul Gardner is from England. He is not very liked by Nad fans. He has long advocated for having more latino players in the u.s national team.
I have to assume most people who have this mentality have never played the game at a competitive level
Their team has looked better when they were using the Mexican rejects honestly. They had more possession in games iirc.
One of their many "world class" athletes who would destroy on the soccer field if only he had chosen to play soccer instead of baseball. Because there are plenty of 6' 1" 230lb world class soccer players in the world.
To be honest that article is pretty exact. There are some people who agre with him but they are in the minority. The truth hurts. Nads just want to hear about their grit and determination and the American way. Juergen did a good job of making people think they were great by playing some friendlies and winning a few over some weakened European sides. Not sure why it's so hard for me to see it. Side story. My renter came over to drop off the rent in a nad jersey. I messed with him when I told him I would now be supporting Belgium. Smile faded a bit.
something funny my mom told me she was watching the news on Tuesday and at Petco Park here in San Diego they were showing the Nads vs Belgium game. the reporter was interviewing people after the game and apparently one idiot said "it's a shame that we lost but there's always next year" my mom was like "que pendejo" and that's the typical Nad fan base in a nutshell
Not to defend Nads, but I don't like when my people don't pickup on things. It as an analogy man, your the one not looking to bright. He is saying that he can't believe there isn't a US citizen that is to soccer like, James is to Bball, Trout is to Baseball, and Zuckerberg to Social Media. A superstar in their field that has worldwide recognition and has done great things. I didn't think he said anything in his posts that merits being in this thread
The response to that should be self evident...why isn't there a world renown cricket player in the USA?....why isn't there a superstar Rugby player in the US?....simple, those things aren't woven into the fabric of our culture...it's a ridiculous proposition and an arrogant one at that rooted in this notion of American exceptionalism in anything we choose to partake in....
Yeah, the reason is not that there isn't a large player pool. The problem is most youth soccer is coached by duses who know jack shit about it. There was a guy on local radio making the argument about why it won't ever be huge here and why they don't have a superstar. He said he didn't know shit about soccer and then added, guess who coaches youth soccer....Me!
Also, a lot of parents hold up former camps run by former English players in high regard. Yeah, the EPL is a great league but using the English style of soccer as the gold standard is not going to lead to good results.
Isn't the US one of the countries where more kids play futbol? I'm lazy to look up that fact, but it should make sense in a country of 300 million. But, when you're wack, you're wack.
A lot of kids play it but other than that there isn't much development, I mentioned in another thread about how the US has failed to qualify for two straight U-17 World Cups. In Latin America or Europe you might have kids that play for a neighborhood side and play pick up games almost every day. Here in the states you might have kids who practice and play once or twice a week.
