Has Adu played 30 minutes this season? (joke) Grella must have really impressed. Although in D3, Leeds is in a promo fight and seemingly had a decent attack corp.
With Beckford out for another 2 games (I believe it was a 3 match ban) Grella should see some more pt. I'm surprised there wasn't a thread earlier.
No press but heres a message board link: http://www.waccoe.com/index.php?showtopic=152492 From the player ratings thread on the board: Seems the thinking is that Leeds partnering Becchio and ineffective Bristol City loanee Lee Trundle isn't working and Grella could see much more time with Beckford out the next two matches. Right now Leeds seem to be a one man team: If Grella shows some promise he could very well play himself into the starting rotation opposite Beckford since neither Becchio or Trundle are doing well without him. Then again the rumor is that on Feb. 21 Leeds will capture another striker in Liam Dickinson from Derby: Dickinson has a major red flag around him in that Derby paid a fair price for him and then have sent him on loan many times. I believe the rumor was that he trashed the Derby chairmens house at a party and has found himself on the outs since then. Also rumored that Huddersfield Town and Blackpool were offered him permanently but turned the offers down. In any event Dickinson will likely be given a go at Leeds given the struggle to find a partner for Beckford. So by that logic Grella has the next two matches against Cheltenham and Hereford to impress. Lucky for Grella those two sides are at the bottom of League One.
I put up highlights of the game up. He doesn't show in them much, but he was very unlucky to not have the ball fall in front of him off the post in the last clip. He reacted well to it though and kept possession: http://watchsocceronline.blogspot.com/
Hi everyone - long time no see - been busy moving house and trying to keep my Leeds podcast going. Re - Grella (Gorilla we call him at Leeds)...I saw him play a full game for our reserves 2 weeks ago. Fast and nippy in that game. He has a great first touch and loves going forward However, I think he needs to beef up a bit to make it in the bruiser show that is League One. He got knocked off the ball too easily at Huddersfield. The Huddersfield game was no reflection though, as they had parked the bus and we had everyone attacking them except our keeper, trying to get the equaliser. Gorilla has an arrogant body languague, which is great for a striker - just so long as it doesn't turn to the petulance that Becks has. If it fires his confidence tho, then GREAT! That's my 2 cents worth - we'll see if he plays today down at Hereford. I'm hearing ahead of kick off, he will be on the subs bench. P.S. Ken Bates said in an interview last week that Gorilla is "one for the future"...however there is an interview with Grella on my "Glory Glory Leeds" podcast #71 on CSRN, where he says he is wanting to get into the first team as soon as possible.
I highly recommend to any of you interested in following Grella's progress at Leeds to take a listen to the Glory Glory Leeds show that Twiggster hosts. www.csrnusa.com
Well - NO Leeds players want to play for us ATM, it seems. Bunch of fairies the lot of them... Gorilla was no worse and no better than any ********er who wore our jersey today. Total fuggup ...
OK I've watched the LUTV highlights today from the Hereford game. (sorry, can't put them up as they are DRM encoded for LUTV subscribers only to see - anyone know a software recorder to get around that?) The Gorilla kid wants it alright...he had more passion than most of the losers wearing our jersey last night, after he was subbed on. He was a breath of fresh air, but our team knew they were beaten, so I felt sorry for him. I hope he keeps his arrogance and rises above the general bad vibes that the Leeds players are showing at the moment and will shine for us...again, he put more into 20 mins on the pitch last night than our first choice strikers did for the 70 mins beforehand. He will be a great addition to the USA MNT, I feel...
