Gregorio was playing English 3rd div with Darlington FC
and Cabrera was playing for CSD Comunicaciones in Guatemala.

DesNews is reporting that both Gregorio and Cabrera are signed however Gregorio must wait til Aug. 15 and Cabrera must wait for US Work Visa.

DesNews is predicting that the 2 will help RSL with their last 10 games.
They also said (as we predicted earlier) that at least 1 player must be waived for these 2 to come on board.

My prediction: Behncke. Not out of any animosity towards him. There's really nowhere else to go unless they drop a DEV player and demote someone else.

I'm betting O'Brien. He hasn't even been practicing with the team. Maybe they will just loan him permanently to Seattle.

But with the addition of a defender, it could very well be Benchke.

There are two players that the team was able to set apart as non-guaranteed even after the deadline. If we could figure out who those two are, I bet it would tell us who gets cut.

i thought o'briend was already waived or sent back to the sounders? i could be mistaken.

getting rid of behncke would be the best move this team has made so far. i shudder at the very thought of him seeing playing time, for any team.....

Gregorio was at practice today. He actually practiced with the team. He looked pretty decent. I can't wait to see what he can do once he gets his soccer legs back.

Cabrera was still working on rehab and conditioning.

EDIT: I forgot that I was going to point out that O'Brien is still on the official roster.

Where do you think Gregorio will play? He's a midfielder and can score but is he a winger or more of a d-mid?

Gregorio is a d-mid, or at least was in England

That's what I understood as well though I think he's played on the wing a bit during his career as well. We probably need him more at d-mid.

RSL currently has 17 of the 18 Senior spots filled.
They have 10 of the 10 Developmental spots filled.

Therefore, when both Cabrera and Gregorio officially become part of RSL, either a Senior player becomes a Developmental and a Dev gets canned or a Senior gets canned off the bat.

O'brien is still officially with RSL. I have high hopes he is a target for release. I think players like Flores and Novak, although not getting any first team time, are good for the future.

Leighton is on my list, but lower than Behnke...We've picked up 2 defenders, I think it's time to let him go.

Flores is actually playing as a defender.
Plus he is currently the only Hispanic and Utahn on the team.
I think he has upside, so lets get rid of dead weight like Leighton O'Brien. Gregorio and Cabrera both can play d-mid and defend.

Regardless, I really think its O'Brien thats leaving. Ppl who have attended practices in the last few weeks have mentioned he hasn't even been there.
Good sign that he is gone.

Get rid of Flores? Isn't he :

    a) very young (19?)
    b) a DEV player
    c) making peanuts

If that's the case, seems like you'd want to cut others first.

And at this point, don't they get stuck with the salary for the year even if they cut a player?

They designated two players that they didn't have to guarantee their salary. They never announced who they were, but they are the prime candidates to be cut.

Both of these players are actually here.
Gregorio has been practicing this passed week. He is wearing #8 (Evan Whitfield's old number)

Cabrara is at practices but is not practicing yet.
He has not been granted a work permit yet so he cannot practice or play. He was at the match on Saturday night watching and signing autographs.

Speculation on two players to be cut...

    1) O' Brien has not been practicing with the team nor has he been at any matches since his loan to Seattle last month. although the loan period was for two days, he has been seen, by me, in the RSL FO and in plain clothes at RES recently.

    2) Dante Washington just because I don't think he is working out as planned.

    This is merely speculation.

I do not see them cutting Sergio Flores, he is a developmental player and as far as I know, cutting him will not help bring in any new blood.
He is very fast and a pretty decent d-mid. with a little time... I could see him starting on the senior team.

Thanks for the info, guys. I was wondering how this whole thing was playing out, especially with having to cut 1 or 2 + the salary situation.

Deuce, what are you doing hanging around Trolley Square for? Or do you have a web cam or something set up in the FO to keep tabs on them? :)

LOL a webcam would save a lot of time.

Actually I have been getting alot of face time with the FO in the past month.
With the Rocky Mountain Cup, Dream Keeper foundation and re-certifying my media credentials.

So I have been in and out of the office quite a bit lately...

No, I don't know who they are, but I'm pretty sure that one is O'Brien. He is nowhere to be found. The other one is anybody's guess.

Its rather odd that 2 players would be cut.
Unless of course RSL has even more plans for new players.

They already have one Senior spot open.

I don't think that they will cut the second player yet. I just know that they have two players they could cut that don't have guaranteed contracts. That doesn't mean that they will cut them. We know that at least one of them has to be cut though.
