    The enthusiasm!
    It is infectious!:notworthy:

Oh, and his Open Letter is, well, underwhelming.

He better turn out to be one hell of a good player acquisition guy, because he is not going to "charm us" with posts like this.

He has money to spend and a roster full of decisions to make.
I am very interested to see what happens between next week and February.

    Dear Fire Fans,

It’s an honor to step into the role of Director of Football and Head Coach for this Club. Chicago is a world-class city with a true love for soccer, and this Club must return to being seen as a top organization in MLS. As someone who has been involved with the League as a player, coach, and director since the very beginning, I know the passion and loyalty that this fanbase has for its team – and how intimidating it can be to play in Chicago with a packed stadium. Coming into this role, my top priority is to build a team that matches your dedication.

    A New Era
As we turn the page to this new chapter, I want to make one thing clear: we are setting our sights on sustained success. We will create an identity on and off the field that you will be proud of and ensure that the Fire are competitive year in and year out.

My vision is simple: Build one of the top clubs in North America. We will focus on building a squad that not only competes at a high level but plays in a way that makes you proud to see them wear our famous red.

    Building for Now
Developing talent from Chicago will remain a priority and the bedrock of our Club. We want to continue to develop a pipeline of talent that starts in our academy and leads into our First Team, producing Homegrown Players who will represent this city and its values.

We will be intentional about bringing in talent that is committed to the Club and city and aligns with the values of our community.

Finally, the Endeavor Health Performance Center, which is due to be open by January, will be a catalyst with both developing our young players and maximizing the impact of our First Team players. This commitment to excellence will be a major tool in helping us recruit and develop the players we need to move this Club forward.

    Your Role
Without you, the fans, there is no Chicago Fire. Nothing can happen without you. Our fans and supporters are the heart and soul of this Club, and your passion is one of our greatest strengths. Whether it’s at the stadium or from afar, your support drives us, and we want to make sure you feel connected to what we’re building. I am committed to working together with you to help realize your vision of what this Club can be.

I invite you to join us as we enter this new era, and I promise we will give you something to believe in. Together, we will make the Chicago Fire a Club that not only competes but defines what it means to be a part of this League. We’ll build a Chicago Fire that this great city can be proud of.

Thank you for your support. I can’t wait to get started.

    Vamos Fire!

    Gregg Berhalter
Director of Football and Head Coach

Well, if the Fire's train derails again, we always have The Cramps:

  6. When you're down in the dumps, The Cramps are there with you. One of my all-time favorite Metro shows, up there with Nina Hagen & Nick Cave.

GGG has never had a dynamic, fan-winning personality

    he's a dork and that's okay

i hope they don't try to turn him into a cheerleader type of guy

Yeah! Nobody can stop something you're willing to pay for yourself! That's why the Lucas Museum is opening up on the lakefront next year!

i don't believe that Joe can simply make a Lincoln Yards stadium happen if he wants to like milcz, but there is a pretty important distinction to be made between privately and publicly owned land

Joe's not trying to build on an exemplary example of public land. He's looking to it on his own dime on land that he would control. In this day and age, I'll take it.

The only building on the lakefront that I'm good with would be upgrades to the bar/resturants on the beaches up and down the length of the lakefront.
    And that's not really neccessary.

Without doubt the wholesale fleecing of the public that billionaires do with publicly financed stadiums is a massive crime each and every time it happens.....but just being willing to pay for it without public funds doesn't eliminate all the craven and stupid shit that can be tried, especially when you're talking about stuff inside the city limits....where the tetris of "what land you can get" *usually* isn't enough to take on the task without stealing some land to close the gaps.....and, well, eminent domain (how the steal happens) is a lot easier when the venture is publicly financed.

Using his own money/financing is better....but some challenges get harder. It's *never* simple.

I thought the stereotype for every thing in proper order was Japanese. If you are going to stoop to stereotypes, at least use the right one.

Not a joke: I started the process of getting my certifications and looking into teaching programs after the loss in Atlanta on Easter. I saw that game and immediately decided it was time to go.

I had a wonderful time in South Korea. It made me want to apply for a teaching job but I ended up on a different path. I can’t really imagine how much things have changed since I was there though.

    Enjoy.

That said, look into some of the horror stories and make sure the program you’re with is reputable. I have a friend that did overseas teaching in Korea and had to switch companies due to some shady shit. Nothing horrific but she did land in a great spot.

    That is just fantastic news.

I have had a few friends teach in Korea and all really enjoyed the experience.

I have heard the horror stories and echo the comment to check out the schools and program before you commit to one.

I think it should be a tremendous opportunity for you to grow and learn and explore.

    Have a great time.
