man, that article stings. honest and acurate, imo. i hope its posted in the locker room and those a$$pennies hike up their skirts, set aside their egos, and play like their jobs are on the line. scratch that.. their lives are on the line...
it was interesting reading this after hearing Maisonneuve and Paule on NBC4 this morning. Mais: "We need to be better as a team, its not just one person" Paule: "we need to work harder, it's hard work, the work, it's hard" or something like that...
Ouch. That's worst than getting kicked in the balls. I think the Crew needs a good kick in the balls. How was LA? Kyle: "It was fun." WTF is he talking about, we got our asses kicked and he's talking like he was clubbin all night. That deserves an automatic benching, some of these guys need an attitude adjustment. Maybe we need to bring a sports psych......
According to the sports on this morning's news (10 TV, WBNS) the Crew does use a sports psychologist. Maybe they're struggling because they're trying to figure out which tree most resembles them, or how they can get to their "happy place."
what b mais said... "We're 0-3," he states. Nice preemptive strike. "It's been pretty miserable. But you gotta always stand up for your teammates, you know. To the media, you've got to stand up. They're your teammates, after all." what b mais meant... "we're 0-3" he states. Nice preemptive strike. " it's been pretty miserable. but you gotta always stand up for your teammates no matter how bad i hate them or they resent my old ass broken down ankles. To the media, you've got to stand up but to the coach, so long as i'm playing, i just sit there and take it then bitch at other players because it is so damn frustrating standing around with our thumbs up our a$$es half the training session. they're your teammates, after all and there's nothing i can do about that. i'm stuck with them. i played in a world cup, damnit. how many of these other saps can say that..."
This just depresses me. Is nobody w/ pull hearing all of this? Honestly, its like they're turning a blind eye and a deaf ear towards the Columbus Crew. We need a major shake up, its plain and simple. Things aren't working. Their initial approach was to shake up the roster. Hello, are you watching the games? It didn't work. Especially when you wait until the 82nd minute to make a strategic sub that should have been made in the 60th. That's a big fat indicator that the coaches aren't doing their job. Clean this house. That's the only way to end this dismal existance as the joke of MLS.
How is that? Every morning when a Crew fan wakes up and then thinks of the team, the sentiments put forth in that article ring true.
Me too. No, they're not. Yes, it is. Yes, we do. No, they're not. Yes, it was. No, they're not. No, it didn't, What he said.
Thanks for helping me to laugh on a Friday morning... it seems to be the only way to cope with the depression caused by my beloved Columbus Crew... ... that, and booze.
Of course you guys knew I was going to come on here and defend Cunningham. It's what I do. I just don't see how someone can say what he said about someone who has over 50 goals in this league, is at least top 15 in goals and points in MLS, and is around top 10 in points per minutes. That seems to me to be the perfect person to hand your offense over to.
I hear ya myshap. Especially after watching last weeks game when Cunningham was obviously the best player on the field. Who else on this team gets the keys? Buddle has shown all the spark of a fire in the middle of a hurricane, Scott doesn't get a chance to play under Greg's subsitution laws. It just seemed like he saw the scoreline of the games, but didn't actually watch them. "Oh no goals? Cunningham is Bad. Me write article bout it" Total bunk.
Of course this year with HIM (and not McBride) he's scored a total of: 0 points He has busted his rear more this season than all previous years combined. However, I still think the perfect person to hand your offense over to should be able to finish. Before you start going off on the McBride deep end, remember that Bakes didn't finish a lot while he was here. However, he seemed to step up when it counted... something that Cunny still refuses to do. Right about now, I think the most viable people to turn the offense over to would be Marshall and Hejduk. (I'm still waiting to see our Costa Rican Wunderkind play more than 11 minutes a match)
Someone on Matchnight made an interesting connection. It probably has nothing to do with it, but the timing is some what funny. *Report of Cunningahm and Mais going at it in practice *Lalas admitted good friend of Mais interviews him *Lalas says Cunningham bad. It's beyond conspirecy theory, I know and I know Mais wouldn't do somthing like this, but the timing sure is funny.
You know I'd actually like to see Jeff's points per minutes and goals per game with and without McBride. In my mind, I think it's not all that different and might be a little better without McBride, but I have nothing difinitive. Grouchy???
I'm defo on Cunningham and Buddle up top. It's usually what you want. One side the quick, sometimes stingy crafty ********er. On the other side the big strong 6 yard box terror that is a physical presence. The times I have seen Buddle he is not the tallest guy on the field but he seems physically strong and tough to knock of the ball. That doesn't seem to be the case since he has come back from injury. Yet he has been used anyways while other players have been fit and want to prove themselves.
Well, they have been generating our most dangerous chances so far this year. At least we are finally a threat on free kicks.
seeing as how they have contributed more to our offense than martino, mais, paule, oughton and any other midfield wannabe greg has thrown out there.. combined.. i see the point.
yep. lets put frankie at a mid, benching martino and put marshall up top benching cunny. we may give up more goals, but does it really matter?
I hope what he was trying to say is without a midfield and all the long balls, your only chance of scoring is for Cunningham to do it himself. I am no big fan of Jeff's however the dude can finish when someone gets him the ball in the right situation. However we currently have no one delivering the ball to anyone. Long balls out of the back don't get it done. They don't get it done for Lakota West (used to be famous for this style) and they won't get it done for the Crew. Look at the Nats on Wed. Our midfield was up on the break and slotting balls to the forwards. Didn't always work but the midfield players we involved in the game, which got the forwards involved and allowed the backs to join in as well. The problem isn't who is up top. The problem is getting them the ball.
