I hope we Greece that is wins this and advances .as a long suffering Greek fan we are very excited about our team so far,It is important that we do not take the russians lighty though as all the teams in Euro 2004 are good teams to make it there in the first place
    Go Greece GO

as does Russia-Cameroon at USA '94 (though Russia had a very slight chance of advancing then.)

Seriously! Group A is just like USA's group from 2002.

USA/Greece upsets Portugal or first matchday.
USA/Greece ties Korea/Spain in the second game, Portugal spanks Poland/Russia, Poland/Russia is eliminated.
USA/Greece only needs a draw to advance, but fall behind early...

I guess the only difference is that Portugal need to beat Spain to advance, while they only needed a draw against Korea.

Greeks really seem to have let things fall apart. Then again, you could've said the same at this point in the Czech - Holland match yesterday.

Tragical mistakes in first 15' deprived from Greece the 1st place. Greek defence was a circus. And greek attack had no presence. Second half was better for greeks. But full of stress, they failed to achieve a good perfomance. Basinas, Venetidis and Vryzas for the longer were the worst greek players for me. Especially Venetidis. Anyway, Spain lost 1-0 from Portugal, and this result send the greek team to the second round. Spain is out! And Portugal clamber to the 1st place. Greece has no luck with such perfomance in next match. And especially with a strong opponent (like France which will be the probablest opponent). But even the fact greeks succed for first time in their history (and in their second presence in a Euro) to go forward in next round, it's noticeable and admirable. I wish them good luck and advice them to reject their complex. Anyhing is possible.

On the bright side Karagounis and Giannakopoulos will be returning.

Tsiartas had a great game and I can see Nikolaidis starting next game for Vryzas.

Pathetic effort on our part. We had no fire, at times I didn't know if they wanted to even get into the next round. We were incohesive. No one was making runs. No one was marking. We gave the Russians acres of space. This is as bad as we can play.

Anyway, thank God for Portugal. Onto the next round, where we can hopefully play better. Hopefully we can chip another big team. That would be nice.

what are you talking about? Portugal almost knocked Greece out! Who would've thought that after giving Portwhine and Asspain a run for their money, Grease would only squeak by on one goal and losing to Rush-ya! Rush-ya almost scored again in the second half, too.

    What are you saying?

Portugal was facing elimination a few hours ago.

Fact is Spain could score only twice in the 3 games. Not to much to say.
