Hey sorry I don't belong in these parts but I'm looking for 1-3 experts on both Greece's and Cyprus' current football teams AND that are active on BigSoccer. (So 2-6 people in total, unless there is overlap.) They need to be knowledgeable of the team, fair, and just. I'm doing a little bit of a project at the moment... Thanks!
Well I'm looking more towards the Greece national team, so maybe you can still help. (Welcome to Big Soccer, btw!) I'm trying to put together some world rankings. The idea is to rate every team's player's 1-100 with an expert for every team to give a fair and just review of the their respective team. Obviously you (and anyone else who shows up) would just cover Greece. Here's how I would compile the ratings. If the World Cup was in one month and every team had a month to prepare it's squad to play, who would be chosen, what would their ratings be, and how many minutes would they play on average? (This is who you would expect to see, not who you'd want to see.) For example, this is what USA's squad would look like, in my opinion: 81 - Howard (GK) 90 mins 73 - Cherundolo (RB) 70 mins 71.5 - Bocanegra (CB) 85 mins 69.5 - Goodson (CB) 70 mins 72.5 - Johnson (LB) 80 mins 74.5 - Bradley (CDM) 90 mins 76.5 - Jones (CDM) 80 mins 70 - Torres (CM) 60 mins 82 - Dempsey (LW) 90 mins 80.5 - Donovan (RW) 90 mins 74 - Altidore (ST) 75 mins 71.5 - Chandler (RB) 15 mins 70.5 - Lichaj (RB) 5 mins 69 - Parkhurst (CB/RB) 5 mins 68 - Onyewu (CB) 13 mins 69 - Cameron (CB) 7 mins 69.5 - Castillo (LB) 10 mins 69.5 - Edu (CM) 15 mins 70.5 - Beckerman (CM) 10 mins 68 - Boyd (ST) 3 mins 70 - Gomez (ST) 25 mins 68 - Wondolowski (ST) 2 mins I gave Howard a 81 rating and expect him to play 90 minutes, every minute, while Goodson is expected to play only 70 minutes as the CB spot is still pretty open for the US. This is what I have for Greece's current squad, based off FIFA 12's ratings: 73 - M. Sifakis (GK) 90 mins 79 - V. Torosidis (RB) 90 mins 77 - A. Papadopoulos (RCB) 90 mins 76 - Sokratis (LCB) 90 mins 73 - G. Tzavellas (LB) 90 mins 76 - G. Karagounis (RCM) 90 mins 75 - K. Katsouranis (CM) 90 mins 72 - G. Makos (LCM) 90 mins 76 - D. Salpingidis (RW) 90 mins 74 - T. Gekas (ST) 90 mins 68 - G. Samaras (LW) 90 mins So what needs to change? Are players ratings too high/low? Would you expect a sub to come in and, on average, how long would he play? You have to factor in long term injuries but current fitness issues you could likely ignore. For example, Stuart Holden will likely make the actual World Cup squad but for now I have to keep him off as he is recovering from a massive knee injury. This is a big work in progress but here is the "current" overall rankings. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AttujdNBdATWdHI3WVRSM2xDaWcycnZwbnFKTFRoS0E&output=html I realize this is a big overtaking and should be taken with a grain of salt AND that there's no "correct" answer but I thought it'd still be interesting to compile. If you have any questions let me know!
ok,to begin with,Makos is definately NOT going to be in the starting XI.Probably Ninis or Fetfatzidis should be in his place. Now,be careful there because with Fernando Santos you cant be sure for anything.I mean its a slight possibility that Maniatis could be there in Makos place. Also,Tzavellas is not in plans for starting lineup,Holebas in his spot. All other 9 players should probably be there at Friday night against Poland. Now,as far as the ratings concerned,I am not familiar with Fifa Ratings,I am a Pro Evolution player.Although,Samaras rating is way low, should probably be around 73 instead of poor 68.Also,Torosidis rating should be a little lower, around 75 because he had a really poor season with Olympiakos. What is more,I definately dont think that Avraam Papadopoulos(77) i should be rated higher than Sokratis(76).It should be Avraam 75,Sokratis 77. Lastly,I cant really help with the minutes of play.Probably Sifakis and all defence four should play all 90 mins. In midfield,Karagkounis will always be substituted at around 70-75 mins of play, maybe Katsouranis too, with Fotakis and Ninis or Fetfatzidis on their places. In attacking positions, things are complicated because all 3 considered starters Gekas or Salpi or Samaras are possible for substitute depending the game situations....I m saying all 3 forwards because Gekas gets tired,Salpi is not fast enough and Samaras doesnt always give 100%.On the other hand all substitute forwards have issues.Santos does not really trust Mitroglou, who by the way had a fantastic season with Atromitos Athinon. He has Fortounis, who will probably will get his chance but he is not a clear forward and of course Liberopoulos who is a greek Legend but is not gonna play a lot,he is 36yo. Well, that I believe is a good report for starters.Let me know if you have any other questions...
Great review, I really appreciate it. This is what I ended up with: 73 - M. Sifakis (GK) 90 mins 75 - V. Torosidis (RB) 90 mins 75 - A. Papadopoulos (RCB) 90 mins 77 - Sokratis (LCB) 90 mins 70 - Holebas (LB) 90 mins 76 - G. Karagounis (RCM) 75 mins 75 - K. Katsouranis (CM) 75 mins 76 - Ninis (LCM) 75 mins 76 - D. Salpingidis (RW) 75 mins 74 - T. Gekas (ST) 75 mins 73 - G. Samaras (LW) 75 mins 72 - G. Makos (LCM) 10 mins 72 - Fetfatzidis (CAM) 15 mins 72 - Maniatis (RB) 15 mins 73 - Fotakis (CAM) 15 mins 74 - Mitroglou (ST) 15 mins 69 - Fortounis (CAM) 15 mins 74 - Liberopoulous (ST) 5 mins Just to be clear, this isn't a WC prediction so much as it is just an average of playing time. So a player may average 75 minutes by playing three full games and sitting one. Also are the Pro Evolution ratings much different from FIFA? I guess neither of us would know if we haven't played the other...
