    Let's Go Mets

(of course depending on an outfield of Jeromy Burnitz, Roger Cedeno, and Cliff Floyd in a Pitchers park doesn't inspire confidence)

Damn ordonez beat Burrell in the Big League Challenge home run derby. But I'm not so upset about that, cause I know if Burrell hits 45 home runs this season about 10 of them will come against the mets.

hey man, cut me some slack, when is teh last time the phils were actually looked at as a favorite to win a division. Certainly not in 93 that came from nowhere. I am very excited for this season.

    Great News (MLB)

Here I thought you were going to tell us they had cancelled the season.

    Oh, well.

Tigers fans will be able to name more coaches and announcers than players.

I love Alan Trammell though. I hope that he gets a few years to turn that around. If the front office gives him any help I'm sure that he will get the job done.

Sorry, I shoulda said it was Magglio, not rey.

13 hours and 15 minutes till pitchers and catchers report, yet there are already 25 phils there voluntarily. This is great.

Don't do it, hang, don't get your hopes up. You're setting yourself up for a fall.

If the young pitchers (myers and duckworth, our probable 4 and 5) pitch well they could have one of the best rotations in teh game. There is so many reasons to be optimistic. I can't help it.

    Let's go Expos!

At least we have them for one more year. Or should I say for 2/3 of a year. :(

Excellent news re: the All Star game this year. I think this will return that game to the top of the heap for pro sports AS games. I tried to watch part of the NBA one this year, and it was horrendous.

As for the season, the Red Sox are looking very strong...I see them winning the east, though they will no doubt choke in the playoffs. I just see too many question marks in the Yankees lineup: Clemens and Wells WILL both break down at some point; Contrera and Matsui are both totally unproven, yet highly paid and counted on; and Steinbrenner is spending so much that if they falter at all, he's going to bust a nut. I'm really looking forward to it. On the other hand, Mussina will bounce back from a poor season, and Weaver should improve, but only if he actually gets starts. I'm not sure having 7 front-of-the-rotation SPs is a good idea. And yes, even Sterling Hitchcock would be a #2 guy on many teams.

Notice how a Red Sox fan spends more time discussing the Yankees preseason than his own team? Gotta love that rivalry.

Is there a better 1,2,3 than Pedro, Lowe, Wakefield? OK, outside of Oakland, but even then, I think it's a toss up.

Doctor Jones, I don't see clemens breaking down really at any point this season. baseball prospectus had an interesting piece on the Yanks rotation and teh person they compared Clemens to was Nolan Ryan, he's just in very good shape for a 40 yr old pitcher. Petite will break down again, and so will Wells eventually. As for the BoSox, I think they definately are more well equiped to challenge the Yankees than before, (more due to the yankees age than anything else really) but I'm not sold on Wakefield. he reminds me of Paul Byrd. Any given day his junk will be very hitable and he can get lit up. I think he's destined to come down to earth after a real good season last year.

Regardless neither will be able to beat the Phils in the world series.

I got Peanuts thrown at me for wearing a Buckner jersey at Fenway. It was so worth it though.

You know, I was indifferent about the Cardinals till that little prat JD Drew started playing for ya. It's a shame cause I love seeing games in StL the fans are really passionate and its a great atmosphere, but I can't feel anything but hatred for JD. Possibly his best line during his holdout from the Phillies, "My Christian values won't let me sign for less than I am worth." Dickhead.
If he goes on the DL for the whole season I might find myself rooting for them in a game or two against the Mets or someother scumbag team.

Having the All-Star game count for home-field in the World Series is a terrible idea. Everyone at ESPN and anyone that covers baseball for a living thinks it's a joke.

The NBA All-Star game this year was one of the best ones of all time. Jordan almost won the game on a last second shot, but it wasn't to be and the game went to double overtime.

The game was a showing of the new talent in the league and served as a perfect send-off for Michael Jordan.

Back to baseball, I'm a Braves fan,but they disappoint me year after year, so I only have
to say one thing, GO PHILLIES!!!
