His choice right now is playing for Iran or not playing for Iran because FIFA changed his nationality into Iranian. So he is not able to play for Germany. If he decide to play for Germany he has to wait another 7/8 months and then Germany can call him up for their squad.

IRNA - A spokesperson for German Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern said there are ongoing talks between German-Iranian idfield star Fereydoon Zandi and Iran`s Football Federation regarding a possible call-up for the Iranian national football team.
FC Kaiserslautern spokesman Michael Novak confirmed to IRNA on Friday that negotiations between Zandi and the Iranian federation were continuing but refused to give further details on the sensitive talks.
Iranian national team coach Branco Ivankovic has repeatedly voiced hope Zandi would finally decide to play for his father`s homeland.
There had been contradictory reports in the German media about Zandi`s degree of interest in playing for Iran.
The 24-year old Zandi, whose father is Iranian and mother is German, was reportedly having second doubts over his teaming with Iran.
FIFA rule changes would allow the former member of Germany`s under-21 national football squad to play for Iran`s A-team during the second stage of the 2006 World Cup qualifying phase.

"I will play for Iran. This is now certain. The federation has convinced me and therefore I will play for Iran (hopefully also in 2006 in Germany). I thank everyone for the many guestbook entries and wish you all a good slide into the New Year (German expression).
    Ciao,

    [Edited] Fereydoon Zandi.
We don't need him. We have players who are twice as good as zandi in the IPL. We don't need any mid fielders or forwards what we need are defenders. Instead of zandi lets bring Pashazadeh back. Sure he didn't had a good season in austria this year but he is still better than most of our defenders in the tm and plus he is experienced.

Pashazadeh is old and useless. We should stop depending on our older players (yes Daie included) we need new talent on the pitch (ie.Borhani). Zandi is damn good, and if he has a hard time deciding, its only due to our pathetic and sad media that has given him a negative image. The likes of Estilli and Parvin make me sick.

it’s been said about golmohamadi as well.. but you have to admit he came back and he did show us how well a player can get back on track... but yeah having young talent is good or giving chances to other players like ansarian...
Yes Iranian media sucks, but that’s only 50% of the story . the point is you guys keep forgetting that he is a young player and he still has a chance for joining the German NT squad. Iranian media and bad fans are good tools that can justify why he chose Germany over Iran. A wall that he can hide behind it but we all know majority of fans and portion of media really wants him… again its his decision and anything he chooses we can only wish him luck and take pride of his achievements as a half Iranian…
bet he didn't make you sick when he was the jeneral of team melli's midfield.. including his goal against USA.. come on man just only he has a different opinion you can’t say he doesn't care about NT, at least he had some experience in real life soccer...(I'm not saying he is right though)
same goes for him I don't even need to talk about sultan’s achievements.. again that doesn't mean he is always right but making you sick I guess you're just in love with the color blue...
