It's a great flag, but very expensive. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/epicflags_1986_3562743 http://www.epicflags.com/usbopaflin44.html Great flag, just so expenisve.......
Politically insensitive and completely unnecessary. Crosses the line between a soccer rivalry and being an inconsiderate, xenophobic asshole. (this applies to both the original post and the one following it).
I hate mexican futbol with a passion. But I hate the football not mexicans themselves. That flag just seems racist to me.
Ah, thank you everyone. Don't get me wrong. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with immigrants, at all. As long as they did so properly. Hate me for it.
So any Mexican fan that shows up at a game is illegal? Is that the message you are trying to get across? 'Cause that is the one being sent. And it's idiotic.
Then why wallow in that crapulance and drop down to their level? Just do what everyone else does and ignore it and move on. No need to spread hate messages out there. And, in regards to the last US v Mexico game, people were for the most part very respectful.
I also find it no different than our high school games. We play a team from a small nearby town, that has a lot of farms......so our student section wears overalls and John Deer stuff. Is everyone on that team a farmer? No. Are any of thier fans? Maybe. Does it get a point across.....yes.
That is true, and I did hear much less booing from the Mexican fans. But just to clear it up, I have nothing against Mexico or Mexicans. I have been to Mexico, have friends with Mexican heritage, and since I am in high school, I am taking spanish. I also love mexican food
Slightly different. When you bring Immigration to the game, you are bringing a very touchy issue for everyone on both sides of the border, a situation in which no one is happy and a lot of people are using the Immigration Debate to vent their racist beliefs. By showing up to a US v Mex game with that flag, you are showing racist beliefs and, I can promise you, will get what is coming to you. Politics, religion, race, etc, all that crap stays outside the stadium. When you go to a match, you are there to root for your team and support them and to have fun. All that other stupid garbage doesn't matter and shouldn't be brought it. When it is brought into the stadium, you end up with situations like Italy, Argentina, and England (to name a few) have endured for quite a while. A lot of people have been killed over those beliefs at football matches. That is one part of the game that doesn't need to be brought to the US (no, the shootings at Reliant were NOT in that field..totally unrelated and coincidental).
While I do agree with that, I also believe cheering for your team includes cheering against the other. And this is not just a Mexican issue at all. If Scotland had massive amounts of illegal immigrants coming into the States, I would be waving this at the Tartan Army.
No, because that is their own gripe. If/when some Germans get angry about it, that's their thing. This is ours. This is the US. When you do that, it makes all of us look bad and given the nature of the relationship between the US and Mexico, it's best to not piss anyone off. Look, rooting against the opponents is all well and good. I do it all the time and will continue to do so. One example is from last year at Dynamo games. When FC Dallas came to town, there were dozens of flags, banners, etc that were anti-Ruiz that all had something to do with his nickname. They ranged from "No Dive Zones" types to others. But none of them were racist or in any way hateful. They were comments on his playing style (or lack thereof according to some). That's cool. Even Dallas fans would agree that those signs are ok (Wouldn't be surprised to see them have something like that when the LA Bex roll into Frisco ) But insulting an entire fanbase is NOT the way to root against the other team. Watch the US v Mexico WC game from 2002. Just before the end of the game, you can hear US fans singing "Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye" over and over again. That's awesome and appropriate and not-insulting. It's witty and funny. Saying "Swim across the *****ng ocean you ___________s" is not (which is more or less what you are implying).
Funny, I don't think farmers are a semi-despised underclass, let alone, an ethnic group that faces varying levels of racism and xenophobia, though they may have been here for 5 generations, you negrepping twat. Oh poor you and your mackerel snapper ancestors. Don't you have some altar boys to molest or something, Fr. DT. See, it ain't so funny, when it's coming at you, is it? Not that I expect you to understand what you're doing is the same ********ing thing.
Ok, first off, sorry to anyone I have insulted..... In no way do I hate Mexico or Mexicans....or any other nation for that matter. I also want to say I am not a racist, at all. Sure I may occasionally make some not politicially correct statements, but hey, thats life. I'm not evil or wish death to anyone, just a high school kid who thought that something like this would be hilarious. I do support the border patrol though.
