Great duels and possible match-ups

Which interesting or exciting football clashes have you seen and which ones do you look forward to seeing (Team vs Team, Midfield Battles, Offense vs Defense, or Player vs Player)?

Many may disagree but for me the '95 CL final between a defense-minded Milan and an offense-gifted Ajax was a fascinating clash of young talent and veteran expertise. Also the R.Madrid vs Man Utd 2nd leg from last year was a pretty fun affair similar to watching a wild slugfest between two boxers refusing to block. As for individual battles, I really enjoyed seeing Vieira and Edgar Davids really go at each other a while back in a CL match. You could tell they had immense respect for each other even while throwing themselves into every hard tackle and body check.

As for future clashes, I'd love to see Real Madrid vs Milan in a cup final (no B-team or home field excuses, just winner take all). Also, I'd like to see a R.Madrid-ManU match where Beckham would go up against his old mates (and the look on Ferguson's face if he outplayed them would be classic). Other neat clashes might be Adriano vs Sol Campell (battle of the juggernauts), C-Ron against Nesta (just for the comedy ), Roy Keane vs Gattuso (would be much better if Keane were a bit younger), and Nigeria against Brazil in a WC match (had hoped to see it in '98 but Denmark woke me from that dream). What are some clashes that might interest you guys?

 

I agree. Though it's too bad Elber is no longer with Bayern. I would have liked to see him have another go at the Madrid backline.
