Read between the lines... they're young, hungry and eager for success. Forchetti http://www.metrostars.com/metronews/submissions/2003/may/05222003v1_esp.htm#eng Galvan http://www.metrostars.com/metronews/submissions/2003/may/05212003v2_esp.htm#eng My $0.02 as follows: They both wanted a change of scenery, and they think they can find success on the pitch in MLS given maximum effort (the anti-Grimandis of the world). I think all the "loan" talk is ridiculous -- essentially, this is Landon redux. What I mean is, MLS helps develop the players for 2-4 years (after which they'll still only be 26!), said players transfer to Europe when they are seasoned, Boca and MLS share the ultimate transfer fee (an amount which would never have been generated if they had stagnated as borderline rostered players with Boca Juniors). IMO, if they're really here for at least two full seasons (i.e., no arriving late, departing early or often), should we really be calling them a "loan" anyway? I'm happy with Landon in MLS -- Can you say, "MLS 2003 MVP"? I knew you could. -- for as long as he sees fit, and these two Metros additions work for me.
Remembering Metros who never really contributed anything to the team, and were also foreigners (and also forgot their cleats in their 1st practice, like in this case), whatever happened to Mr. Sasa Curcic? Where did he come from? Nationality? International experience? I know he left to play in some team in England--I think in the '1st', if I am not mistaken.
Bruised. His first MLS game and he had alot of touches. Unfortunately, he got beat up every time had the ball.
I think the jury is still out on him ... often held the ball too long; tried to take on too many defenders and do too much; went to ground a little often and easily, though he was whacked quite a bit. On the plus side, he certainly gave it a great effort, and once he learns to work with the rest of his teammates, he might be a good addition on the flank. I'm not sure he put a single cross into the box. Zaidie had a couple, but Galvan doesn't look to be that type of outside mid ... I think he'll want to pinch in to the middle more often when he gets the ball (which is not something I'm against ... Zaidie can always overlap and cross).
He needs to get rid of the ball faster, good dribling would work fine in Argentina but MLS defenders won't let him around for too long without tackling him (with or without foul). Will be a great addition to the midfield along with guevara not the flanks. Give the guy credit: didn't know his teammates, doesn't know English, only 48 hours in the US. Played with heart!
Going to take a while to get acclimated....considering that he is supposed to be the lesser of the two Argies, its good work that he was capable of starting and playing well. Could see him getting married to an American and becoming a right wing for the national team in 2006
