Ok, we've got a little bit of time before the next home stand and we really need to try to increase our numbers. (even if its just among the supporters- the guys and gals that know how fun it is and should be there anyway). Not calling anybody out, but all of our groups have been down in attendance and that doesn't even count the rest of the place that needs more butts in seats. Back to grass roots. I've still got some of the passes that Steve got from Godat, so anybody that's iffy based on cost we can help them out. I was also asked on the Chickenhead page to make a new flyer. Here's what I've got so far: Thoughts? Constructive criticism? I'm torn on what to emphasize, but I could always do one for the crazy people and one for families, but I thought this might work for everyone. Let me know what you like or don't like. Feel free to say its crap (I'm not a professional designer). I doubt if AC STL is going to publicize worth shit, as usual, so its up to us again to spread the word.
I've been thinking about this too. I attended the World Cup Final Watch Party @ABSP and Ken gave me a stack of their flyers. I really want to hit more of the ethnic areas in St.Louis, Cherokee west of Jefferson; South Grand, etc. However, it's kind of hard with 2 little kids and weekends full. Any volunteers for this? Battra?
All I'm saying is have Brad send you that flyer, put it in Spanish and drive it and a few flyers in English too down with some tickets to Cherokee. Just spend an hour on a weekend doing that. But if you can't, you can't.
#1 Trivia's for charity...one I care about deeply. #2 Who do you think's gonna be next to me? #3 Why aren't you coming?!
Also..I did send Ken Godat an email stating that if he needed any help with translation that I'd be happy to do it.
Ok, how about Brad sends it to you, you translate to Spanish, then forward it to me. I'll go out of my way to take it down there myself, and go to your neighborhood on South Grand also. We need to do this soon.
Just translate or rephrase- "does a good time have to smack you in the face?" or something that goes along with that picture that makes sense in Spanish. Post it here or send it to me and I'll fix it and then email the .pdf to Steve.
I was thinking of a complete Spanish language one though that emphasizes the supporter's culture in section 20 though... Something like: Attencion Soccer Fans! Have you heard about the team in Fenton? Come be a part the crowd! Bring your smoke! Bring your voices! Bring your drums! (With a big picture of our craziness) Atencion todos aficianados de futbol! Conocen el equipo que juega en Fenton? Sea un parte del multitud. Traiga tu humo! Traiga la voz! Traiga tu tambor! www.ac-stlouis.com ?
yeah I can do that. I'll work on it over the next couple of days and post it here to see what you think.
That would be very cool. thanks, Battra. and I'm still doing my part here. I recently emailed Minerva Lopez, the President of Verde. Verde was a Latino Supporters Group of the Athletica. She is also the owner of Gooolll soccer store in South City. I've got her and her group back on board to come join us at the games. They'll probably come to the game against Puerto Rico on Aug 14, but I'm trying to lure them to games before that with free tickets. I've also recently given a bunch of tickets to my wife to give out to the VA network for those interested. She had a decent response, including a wife of an Irishman who said he had no idea we had a team. figures. Beyond that, I plan on getting those flyers to Cherokee and South Grand as well as indoor soccer clubs, and grocery store billboards. what are you doing to help?
That's cool. I was wondering who Verde was. I've never seen anyone or talked to anyone from that group at any of the games.
Steve...if you happened to call me on a Sunday morning sometime...I might be able to make some time...if we're not out too long.... Let me find out if I can get out this Sunday...If we can go to the places on Cherokee and I talk to them, while wearing my Chivas gear...we might have a much better in with them.
Or they could be Club America fans and beat you up. Either way it should be fun. Steve, take a camcorder- just in case.
