I can't even begin to believe what I just read... I don't even know how to understand this episode. How could this devilish man be so mad that he got less questions then our coach. This proves what human garbage nick really is. I hope he goes to hell and dies in a car accident.

If I could choose a death for nick it would be during a rainy night right after game 1 of the MLS Cup semi final he would lose control of his car and go over the NJ turnpike divider and crash head on into an on comming car that would have the evil and very wicked and devlish Matola driving it. after the head on accident both cars would explode killing Nick the most evil man in MLS and killing Matola the most devilish man in the music industry...

If I could pick another death for nick I would send my personal zoo keeper from my neverland ranch with an Asian Cobra that I own. I would have my zoo keeper creep up to nick's home and hide the Cobra in his mail box. When Nick looks into his mail box he would get a very special delivery sending him straight to hell. I would laugh as he begs for anti venom..

.... and all of this is worthy of The Man himself.

Maybe is takes a homongous ego to become GM in the first place. Once upon a time it was Charlie S. being wished a painful, untimely death. The characters change; the drama continues.

Charlie S was being wished a painful death becasue he was an incompetent GM. Nick isn't all that much better, but is a complete jacknut.

Oddly enough, I hate Charlie S now more than ever with his involvemement of ChampionsWorld.
    I only pitied him before

You hate the man for finding and exploring a niche in our sport? Hell, its not a niche, MLS is the niche of American soccer, Champions League is a monster. I say good for Charlie; he always was a solid businessman and I think that if it hadn't been for Kluge and Subotnick's meddling and Sunil Gulati's heavy hand, we could have had some success with Charlie in Charge.

I'm wondering how the username "Wacko Jacko" could possibly have not gone claimed until April 03.

Metrostars "insiders"? Sounds like Bob told brother Jeff and Jeff was smart enough to know he shouldn't "break the story". Pass it along to fellow sports writer Wahl......

I wonder if Nick and Bob might start having big problems if too many "insider" tips start popping up in the media.

Bob having a sports writer for a brother might make Nick a bit nervous about dirty laundry showing up in the sports pages....

    1. It's possible Wahl has some of the same sources Jeff does. Also, this is a rumor, not something that's made it on tape to the MSG office for a headline story on the Metro Soccer Report. Let's take it with a grain of salt and move on. If he did this, he is vain. If he didn't, he still may be vain. He can be Joan Crawford vain for all I care, as long as we win a cup. Do any of you really care how MFO employees are treated? "Well, we lost 20 games and didn't make the playoffs, but our front office employees went home happy, so that's a plus." Do you think anyone in DC cared when they took 3 titles in a row? If he can put up numbers like that, he can shoot pennies at them for kicks for all I care. As long as they return my phonecalls.

    2. I would be willing to bet a leg that Bob tells Jeff a whole host of things, and that they have worked out between them what is and what is not printable. You can't assume every "metro source" is Bob telling Jeff, and you can't assume everytime Jeff gets a story that he gets it from Bob.

    3. If you were Bob, and you wanted to leak something, the last thing you would do would be to go through your brother. It's way too obvious. Why not throw that bone at Ives Galarcep, Michael Lewis or someone else with whom you can cash that favor in later?

    4. Wishing Nick dead isn't very smart, or funny. He is our GM, get over it. Is he Lou Lamariello?(sp) No. But he's not horrible. Thanks to AEG, I think he will now be held to a higher standard. Either he executes to that standard, or he goes. He has to get results on the pitch and a stadium. Should he not be able to produce a stadium, or the if the team should fall apart, he goes or we all cash in our season tickets. Simple as that. On the plus side, our team is much improved over last year in terms of coach and direction. I don't love the guy, but I have to give him credit for getting Bradley, Guevara and Pope. Plus, we had a pretty good draft with a lot of wheeling and dealing. I'm not wishing a car wreck on anyone just yet.

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this. Talk about declining quality on these boards...
    What a joke.

jamison, I think you're right about Jeff being very careful what he prints. Remember, Jeff is an employee of MLS, just like Bob and Nick are.

On the other hand, it's just way to easy to envision Nick getting paranoid over anything said in front of Bob. After reading something like this, Nick is going to be extra careful about who he confides in. If Bob gains too much respect and popularity, it's stands to reason that Nick would get jealous.

A jealous Nick would look to undercut Bob at every turn. Maybe a conversation like this?

Nick: Hey Clint, nice volley in practice today. I got a feeling you're due for a hat trick this Saturday.

Mathis: *laughing* It's been a while, would be nice. You hear anything from corporate about a new contract offer?

Nick: Oh yeah, I meant to talk to you about that. I've been telling them that you should be one of the highest paid players in the whole league, right up there with the foreign acquisitions, hell, you should be paid the same as Donovan!

Mathis: For sure man, for sure.....

Nick: Well......they don't feel that way. I don't know for sure, but I think Coach Bradley told the MLS front office that he doesn't want to wreck the salary cap with a huge contract for you.

Mathis: WHAT!??? I thought you were the GM man. Since when does he have the power to make those decisions???

Nick: Look, I am the GM. But you know that Bob's opinion carries a lot of weight with them. I've talked to Bob about the situation. I've told him that you are the "face of soccer" in NY.

    Mathis: What did he say?

Nick: *lowers voice* He said that Petke was also the face of soccer in NY.......

Mathis: He said he might trade me?????

Nick: No, no.....but he kind of insinuated it could be an option.

Well the story didn't come from Jeff, it was printed by Wahl. I would seriously rated the odds that the "inside" source was Bob Bradley to be slim.

It just seems a little bit coincidental that Bob was object of Nick's wrath. I can see Bob telling Jeff that story with a chuckle. Sometime later on, Jeff could have mentioned it to Wahl and then it got printed as a minor laugh.

Isn't it strange that this supposedly happened before the season started, but it just come out now? Why the delay?

I know it was Wahl, I was responding to your suggestion, below, that Jeff might have been the conduit.

So, whatever. We're still at square one. We have a rumor about an event that may or may not have taken place from a source we can't identify.

No one can put too much stock in this. Let's just hope that Nick keeps the ship in order until the stadium deal is signed and then whatever happens, happens. I sort of like the idea of AEG leaving him in limbo as to a contract extension. Maybe their deal with him is to get the stadium done and the team into the playoffs. If he does that, he stays, if not, he goes. Sounds fair to me, but probably less so to Nick and his family.

Nick hasn't had a contract since January and that was reported this week too though Kevin Payne, who should know, says the deal will get done.

I have no idea how accurate Wahl's rumor is but it is the best rumor since Jeff Bradley reported in the Boot Room during the 2000 season that the Metro office workers didn't like Nick.

I haven't seen items like this about other team's GMs. Maybe they're all saints.

If I could choose for an even more brutal way for Nick to die, I would send my friends Zigfried and Roy to rape Nick in front of his home.. Then they could feed his sorry a$$ to the tigers at a Las Vegas show.

For a very special birthday surprise I would send Nick a tape of me and his children in Berlin. I would wave to my fans from my hotel balcony. Paris Prince and Prince 2 would also wave to the crowd with metro jerseys on......Then in a horrific display I would push all of Nicks Children from the balcony on to the street below. This event would drive Nick mad and he would live the rest of his natural life in a nut house and medicateds all day like my brother Tito.
