During the Duke-Carolina Game they zoomed in on Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill. And as the title states Grant was wearing a TOFFS 1970's replica Cosmos Jersey. Is he a fan???

Had no idea where I should post this but I thought it was kind of cool. I am sure he was probably just sporting the 'throwback' cause that is the fad these days but you never know, maybe he's a fan.

I just noticed this too when they were talking about how Deng admired him.

    Interesting stuff.

Grant Hill played soccer in his teens before going over to the "dark side." He mentioned one time that he often felt pressured by his black friends not to play soccer because it wasn't considered a sport blacks played.

Not in the Expansion and Stadiums board. One board up is the Major League Soccer board. Likely would be better there. mod?

I love how a player who grew up playing soccer and in fact, I think, played for the England U-16 team but now plays basketball for Duke idolizes a former Duke player who used to play soccer.

Hakeem Olajuwon, I believe 1 of the best 50 NBA players ever had never played basketball until he was 16-18(?), he was a soccer player.

It looked like Grant was wearing a Cosmos logo t-shirt. Not a jersey. But I definitely noticed it, too.

This is significant. I think that the people who run soccer in this country should take heed because it should be something that EVRYBODY in this country can play, regardless of race, color, creed, age, etc. The more people (especially youngsters) we have playing, the better our chances of popularizing the sport and becoming more proficient at it. More of an effort should be made to include Afro-Americans in soccer (if it isn't already) here.

I know this is getting off the subject, but a good trivia question you could get most any sports fan on is:
Who was Coach K's first player to leave the Duke basketball team early for a Pro career?

    Answer: Jay Heaps!

You too can have one of your very own. Just go to TOFFS.com It is the 1970's Cosmo I belive. They have about 5 different styles. I love it, 100% Cotton and completely comfortable. I noticed it right away, cause I have one. I rock it all the time...chicks dig it! They also have pretty much every other throwback you could think of.

He was actually a GK. I remember seeing him juggle the basketball a few times while standing at the free-throw line.

    Metro Stars jersey sighting!

    Somewhat related...

The maid of Colombian pop star Sabas ("La Caderona") was interviewed on a music show on Telemundo. His maid was wearing a Metro Stars shirt. It would've been a coup if Sabas actually was wearing it, but hey, it's a start...
