YANGON (19 Nov 2008) – A hat-trick from veteran striker Soe Myat Min drove Myanmar to triumph over Malaysia 4-1 in the semi-finals of the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 at the Thuwanna Youth Training Centre Stadium last night. Myanmar, who had lost to Malaysia in the final of the Merdeka Tournament last year and also in the semi-finals of the same tournament last month, scored two goals in each half for the win. Myat Min (pic) scored twice in the first half (25th and 45th minute) before adding the third in the 89th minute as Aung Kyaw Moe then delivered the final blow deep in injury time. Malaysia’s only goal in the game came off Amirulhadi Zainal in the 75th minute. Both Myanmar and Malaysia are using this tournament as part of their preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 next month. http://www.aseanfootball.org/headlines_01.asp?id=694

3rd place match was not in schedule at all, so I doubt it. Still, I think that Malaysia made better impression on me than reserves of Ulsan. Hard luck Harimau Malaya!
any sites where i can watch the clips of the matches? i only saw 2 clips with indonesia on youtube. plz do help me out kyay zoo !
It's good that Indonesia won, it gives both Myanmar and Indonesia a much-needed chance to get FIFA ranking points.
it doesn't matter either it is A team or Z team, as soon as they play under the Malaysia NT name then Fifa will list as international game.
So another Myanmar - Indonesia matchup. These sides will be getting sick and tired of each other. Just remember the big one is on 5th December, but another Myanmar win on Friday will certainly have the Indonesian side quaking in their boots!
http://aseanfootball.org/headlines_01.asp?id=696 FIRMAN PUTS INDONESIA IN FINAL OF GRAND ROYAL CHALLENGE CUP YANGON (20 Nov 2008) – Firman Utina converted the crucial sudden death penalty against Ulsan Hyundai to put Indonesia in the final of the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 where they will face hosts Myanmar tomorrow. In the match that was played at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre Stadium last night, the score at the end of regulation and extra time was scoreless even though Ulsan did miss a penalty late in the second half. In the sudden-death penalty shootout which Indonesia emerged 4-3 triumphant over the South Korean side, veteran striker Bambang Pamungkas and midfielder Ellie Aiboy missed from the spot. But luckily for Indonesia, goalkeeper Markus Harison was spot on when he thwarted three attempts in a row from Ulsan. And with defender Isnan Ali, Erol Iba, Charis Yulianto and Firman on target, it ensured Indonesia their place in the final in Yangon where they will be up against a confident Myanmar side on Friday. But really, Indonesia should have the game all wrapped up in the first half of the exchange considering the chances they created. Striker Bambang and Arif Suyono were just too anxious for goals that they missed the target altogether – much to the chagrin of head coach Benny Dolo. Early in the second half, Aliyudin rifling shot from just outside the box almost gave Indonesia the lead but for the excellent work of Ulsan keeper to deny him. In the 70th minute, Indonesia captain Chris Yulianto was faulted for a tackle inside the penalty box but Kim Sung-Min failed to convert. Indonesia will be looking to exact revenge on Myanmar in the final tomorrow – following their 2-1 loss in a group match earlier as well as the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the final of the Merdeka Tournament two years ago in Kuala Lumpur.

Thanks for cheering for Myanmar but to be honest, they are playing very weird games in weird forms that I have no idea how to predict them. And also they are hosts for this tournaments so they might be really on form and hyped up or... the visiting teams slacked off a bit. No one knows... I hope Myanmar do well in Suzuki Cup. But I'm expecting weird interesting results.
Re: Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 (watch here) Myanmar 2 : 1 Indonesia less than 20' left, come on Myanmar!
