Who saw it? What did you think? I thought he was really, really funny. Hell, it was the funniest SNL I've seen in years. He looked really well-rehearsed -- not like he was reading from a teleprompter or anything. Oh, and what he did to Trent Lott. The West Wing bit was classic. I don't know what, if anything, it will do for his political prospects, if indeed he still has any. But it does reaffirm my belief that as a human being, he's pretty cool.
I agree, it was one of the best SNLs in years. Al did look stiff at times, but did a damn fine job of hosting, appearing in all but one sketch IIRC. Highlights were his imitation of Trent Lott on Hardball, the spoof of The Batchelor, Stuart Smalley and the Willy Wonka spoof were he was Willy's more responisble brother (classic just to hear Al say Umpa Lumpa Screwed).
I watched it as well and agree that it was the best SNL in a long time. I thought Gore was really impressive as a host, and a pretty good actor/comedian. He came out as a really "likable" person and that wasn't acting.
weekend update weekend update was genius. specifically the Trent Lott jokes- the picture of the little black girl with Santa and Tina Fey saying "We wouldn't have these kind of problems if Strom Thurmond were president"...hilarious.
Funniest SNL in a long time. The Trent Lott bit was classic. I also liked the part in the opening monologue about finding a running mate. It was a take-off on the Bachelor, I'm assuming.
Gore as Lott was fan-frickin'-tastic. I liked the bit with him kissing (and suffocating) Tipper at the beginning of the show too.
