I was curious about Kevin Bacon's 6 degrees of separation. Turns out I'm not too far off from Paul Gosar. His brother was on the U of Wyoming football team when I was there. I had friends on the U of Wyo football team. As such, me - my friends - his brother - Paul. That's what, 3 degrees of separation. It could actually be even closer as I had a roommate from Pinedale, Wyo, and it's not like it's all that big.
Of the 3 terrific Creeps that hit the charts within a a year or two of each other 1. Radiohead 2. TLC. 3. Alice in Chains
I recently watched that documentary about Woodstock 1999. Holy crap, I had mostly repressed that from my memory.
That was great. I especially liked the recollection of the intern who was like "You can't bring in Limp Bizket -- you have no idea what's going to happen." and all the olds were like "STFU -- nobody asked you."
Favreau and Pfeiffer had good discussion on why Dems have decided to underwrite MAGA Mike whereas previously they let Kevin die in a ball of fire. 1. this time there was something on the table that was a key democratic priority. the aid package. 2. there doesn’t seem to be much upside in another speakership crisis 3. MM turned out to be someone they could work with unlike Kevin. according to one Dem Kevin was just lying all the time which is not the case with MM. Maga Mike has detestable policies yes, but in limited ways you can work with him.
I think this is 98% of it. The whole idea of compromise is you have two sides with different policy objectives -- if nothing else, Johnson appears to have been at least straight with Dems, whereas Kevin was a liar and backstabber. There was zero incentive for the Dems to lift a finger to help McCarthy.

Texas' executive branch is distinctly abhorrent and the deplorable keep voting these parasites into power. Maybe a post Dobbs movement will finally flip this motherfcker blue. That would be nice.
One Texas Republican gave the game away saying that if Texas had initiated mail in voting, the Democrats would've won.
DAMN! This is the front page of the New York Post tomorrow. Even Republican owned outlets are sick of Moscow Marjorie’s antics! pic.twitter.com/RKEhWW1F9J— Harry Sisson (@harryjsisson) April 21, 2024
