Just remember what they think the Bible says should happen to LGBT+ people. They want us eradicated (that CPAC speaker said it out loud regarding transgender). That is their goal for all LGBT+ people.
Of course. I'm just struck--once again--by how much of the current GOP agenda boils down to coming up with new ways to hurt other peoples' children.
This isn't new though. We forget that Bush and co was trying to get a gay marriage ban. Only thing now is that the polite facade is gone and now they're showing their teeth.
I actually think it is new--it's not just the reactionary policies, it's the overt desire to implement them in a way which causes pain. It's not the underlying policy goal that's new; it's the willful sadism in the implementation. Kinda like how the Family Separation policy at the border coupled nativist and xenophobic policy goals with an explicit aim of inflicting emotional & psychological--and increased vulnerability to physical & sexual abuse--onto migrant children. In the past, a desire for hardline immigration practices would have made plenty of room for potential abuse and neglect, but Trump and the ghoulish Stephen Miller made the infliction of pain deliberate and intentional.
These are now meant to be deterrents. A gay marriage ban wasn't attempting to stop anyone from being gay, it was designed not to give the same rights to gay couples for [reasons]. These new laws are meant as deterrents, to prevent people from even admitting or acknowledging they are LGBT+ by criminalizing us and those who support us.
Yes, it’s more aggressively/proactively reactionary. But I also frankly believe the sadism is the end as much as the means. “The cruelty is the point” indeed.
They want us eradicated. That is their final solution. That is why they are acting just as the Nazis did.
Glad this failure gone Bub bye Kyrsten Sinema. Thanks for your cutesy curtsy thumbs down on increasing minimum wage to $15.Patting McConnell on the back first like a good little girl was the chef’s kiss on your ladder pulling bullshit. ✌️ pic.twitter.com/ENKwq06ThZ— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) March 5, 2024
So the Republican nominee for North Carolina governor is a Holocaust denier, encourages people to read Hitler, and calls people like me "filth" and "maggots". Welcome to mainstream Republicanism.
Thanks for the ride to this wonderful land of plenty, slavers! Mark Robinson has just won the Republican nomination for Governor of North Carolina. Robinson is a Black Trump supporter who says not only are Black people not owed any reparations, but in fact WE OWE reparations to white people as thanks for bringing us here as slaves. pic.twitter.com/7m3e8F9zL6— chris evans (@notcapnamerica) March 6, 2024
For a moment I thought….wow….how bad was his opponent if they chose this guy? Then I remembered the time I’m living in.
He probably doesn't know either. In some ways, it's ALL an act. In other ways, he "believes" every word of it.
My guess is that at least one of his opponents was a fundamentally sane and possibly even decent human being. Never had a chance with the MAGA base.
And my law school classmate and teammate on the law school soccer team is running against him. Vote Josh!
Dear Merrick Garland Here’s the deal my friend. I’m a nobody. You’re the attorney general. They’re gonna get to you way way way before they ever get around to me. Hopefully you survive long long enough after the start of the next administration to reflect whether or not you were focusing on the right things these last 3 years. Johnson: We also advanced cuts to some of the agencies that have been turned against the American people. We are going to cut 3% from DOJ, 7% from the ATF, 6% from the FBI, and 10% from the EPA. pic.twitter.com/RzKKPiLD73— Acyn (@Acyn) March 6, 2024
