Mitch will be missed for the wrong reasons: not exactly a rousing ovation for McConnell as he ends his speech pic.twitter.com/cRfX2nCpDm— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) February 28, 2024
I don’t think that counts as a public person tho? I an definitely not a defamation lawyer (or a lawyer at all), but I don’t think that just because a person is famous that they meet the requirement to require actual malice. As an example, Johnny Depo suing Amber Herd. He did not have to prove malice in his lawsuit, just that he was defamed.
No doubt. I'm reminded of baby boomers stating that the problem with kids are that they are not beat enough. I woiuldn't be surprised if this kid was beaten often and look how he's turning out.
I'm assuming you were using my comment as a springboard to make your comment. But just in case, my comment was based on a report a month or so ago that Boebert punched her husband in a bar. Initially people were going "Ooooooooohhhhh, Boebert is going to jail!", but then the police investigated and said that her husband was the aggressor and that Boebert was just defending herself from him.
You say that, but his replacement is going to be worse. There is absolutely no doubt that Mitch is a steaming pile of crap and seriously harmed Senate norms, but he would at least negotiate in good faith for big things like the Ukraine bill. Now that McConnell has stepped down, his replacement will NOT do that. He will behave like the House Republicans. I would compare McConnell stepping down to when Boehner stepped down. As bad as Boehner was, his replacements have been steadily worse and worse until we've hit Johnson who is absolutely useless as Speaker.
We are getting a bit afield. Someone posted that Rosendale being upset and talking lawsuit is evidence that the accusation is true. He didn’t say the lawsuit proves his innocence because only an innocent person would file a lawsuit. It was the exact opposite, that talking about a lawsuit and denying the allegation just shows the allegation is true. IOW it’s the same mentality Representative Comer displayed on the last page. In both cases guilt is assumed due to political affiliation rather than facts. I have no idea if he boinked the girl or not. And this isn’t even a case of “believe the woman” because we haven’t heard from the accuser! It’s just a rumor! Let’s file this under interesting if true for now.
Utterly shameless; and very on-brand. I grew up with people like her; they all grew up to be Trump supporters.
There is no bottom with Republicans so what can Normals do? He's old, he freezes, he wants to shuffle off and eat lettuce in the sun with his execrable wife. The next clown won't give us a packed conservative court so Mitch was quite "successful" for the cause.
Why do you think that? The next Republican Senate Majority leader will do all of the bad things that McConnell did, but he will also do worse things. As an example, I would expect the next Republican Senate Majority leader to end the blue slip system that allows Democrats to prevent the posting of Conservative judges in their states. If Trump wins, I suspect that Thomas and Alito will retire during his administration, which would lock in their current super majority for the next 20-30 years.
Think of the people youve met throughout your life. Maybe I’m clueless or lucky, but I think only like 1% of the people I’ve known could rise (sink?) to this level of unselfawareness.
He'll be hard to top destruction-wise is what I'm saying Some will remember Mitch McConnell for interfering in the Supreme Court, attempting to gut Medicaid, or creating an era of dark money in politics, but I’ll choose to remember him for something far more important: his civility. by David Brooks— New York Times Pitchbot (@DougJBalloon) February 28, 2024
*fires up the google machine* Kinda. They ended it for appeals courts, but it remained for district courts in a state.
Republicans got what they wanted today. Hunter Biden met with Congressional aids to have a closed door disposition. Hunter went in proclaiming that he had nothing to hide and that he would say his father had nothing to do with his business activities. I would expect Republicans to start leaking bits of Hunter's disposition claiming it shows that Joe is the most corrupt President in history, only to have the full transcript released later proving they are lying. Of note is that Gaetz confirmed that Hunter did not plead the 5th a single time. BREAKING: Matt Gaetz just confirmed that Hunter Biden didn't invoke his 5th Amendment right even a single time today.Let's compare:- Eric Trump - 500 Times- Donald Trump - 440 Times- Hunter Biden - 0 TimesDetails:- Eric Trump took it more than 500 times, according to… pic.twitter.com/5KemEo1peC— Brian Krassenstein (@krassenstein) February 28, 2024
What's who hiding? That being said, I've already seen Conservatives using the claim that Hunter didn't plead the Fifth during his deposition to say he sang like a canary and that Republicans now have the information they need to impeach Joe.
OMG. Did I seriously type disposition and not deposition?? *sigh* Where's my moderators bit when I need it?
