http://www.nytimes.com/2003/04/26/nyregion/26HOME.html Good job by the Metros, donating some equipment to this team. Let's hope these guys manage to get back on their feet - and of course, that they do all right over in Austria.
I don't buy the NY times, and I am definately not registering with anybody to read a story in their paper. So next time copy it or forget about starting a thread about something you can't just look up without having to register to see it. Richie
Yeah! Or else! You are wating Richie's valuable time with this crap! He could already be on another thread bitching at someone else if it wasn't for this! What a crabapple...
Registration is free and they send no junk email. I don't get any junk email from their sponsors either. I'm also glad to see that the Metros didn't do this just for publicity. This is the only article that mentions what they've done.
Thanks, to bad this story wasn't more interesting. If the original poster would have put down the title of the story in the title of the thread. I would not even have bottered to open up this thread.
No, but it violates the BigSoccer terms of service... you know, those same TOS to which you agreed when you registered for this site. Of course you wrote that.
First, it's a great story, though I can't be the only person who was surprised by the existence of a global homeless soccer tournament. Maybe instead of $1,000 the winners can someday get a home. Second, I love it when I find other people to put on my BigSoccer ignore list!
The NY Times is not the only paper to require registration, several do, from coast to coast. It doesn't cost anything to register, but if you can't be bothered, so be it. Of course, you are not in a position to tell anyone what thread they may or may not start. And you are aware the policy is to post links rather than to quote at length from published articles.
It's a great story, bums off the street alcoholics and junkies are still great soccer players. Want another great story (this is true) just recently US air traffic controlers went to Spain I think it was to play in an international tournament against other countries air traffic controlers. I know this is true because they asked my son in law to play with them. He was not interested. Maybe it was because when he told me about it I laughed, and said they must be bad to want you. I could probably still outplay them all using my cane.
Yeah, but our NY homeless are gonna get their butts kicked. The chicago fire are a much better homeless team.
This past July the best soccer team of italian professional singers came to the UNited States to play soccer and sing. They were supposed to play during the Santa Rosalia fieasta and soccer tournament held in Brooklyn at that time. I was not there for that game. They were supposed to play against the Santa rosalia's tournament all star team. Made up of the best players in the tournament picked after the tournament. There are a lot of good players who play in that tournament. I asked one of their best how he would play against these singing players He was serious when he answered me. Singers right? I hit them in the throat when we go up for headers. Richie
Actually they send you to jail for five years, 60 to 90 days at a time. LOL. Sorry guys, couldn't resist.
