If you're planning to go to DC this weekend (like I am), I would avoid driving.

Washington fences off roads for protests

An 8-foot black metal fence was erected in a few hours Friday morning along the north side of Lafayette Park, across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House. While pedestrian traffic was allowed through Friday, the usually bustling park was nearly empty and the fence around the immediate White House grounds -- a popular location for tourists with cameras -- was deserted.

Chunk of Downtown Closed for Weekend

The closed area in Northwest Washington is bounded by F Street on the south, 15th Street on the east and 21st Street on the west. On the north side, the closed area will be bounded by H Street between 15th Street and Connecticut Avenue, and by I Street between Connecticut Avenue and 21st Street.

I made a map of what seems to be the closed off area, mostly because DC United is having a "viewing party" for the first game of the season at "The Exchange," a bar located on G Street.

If you know DC, you'll realize what a huge section of town this is, and how many businesses will be affected this weekend.

This sucks. I just found out that the Exchange is closed because of this.
