Gooch starts and goes 54 in a 6-1 wupping of Forbach. He was yellow carded around 40. Metz scored 4 and gave up none with him on. They are 14th in the reserve standings.
You did, I think. Perhaps more than once... Meanwhile, Metz is in sole possesion of 3rd place (44 pts.) in the French 2nd division despite tying St. Etienne over the weekend. Chances of promotion remain decent, tho by no means assured. Le Mans (2nd with 47 points) has played 27 games to Metz' 26.
did you see the picture of this guy in the most recent Soccer America? this dude is built. they said he was maniacal when it came to working the weights, much more than anyone else on the team, and the coaching staff had to order him to cut back on the lifting. he also said he loved the environment there, than Metz consisted of mostly younger guys in their young 20s and there was a good family atmosphere and a lot of joking around which made him feel at home. metz also paid for his car and a 3 bedroom apartment which had enough space so he could have visitors from abroad at anytime combortably. he definitely seemed to be enjoying it over there. as opposed to Yi, who was also discussed in the story, who seemed borderline dejected if not miserable.
You reap what you sow. I'm certain he was offered a P40 contract, but "the money wasn't good enough."
More importantly (not) what grade did he get on that test he took last week at Clemson? The was an [R] in the title . . . . . .
Look, Yi may be somewhat down, but he understands he needs patience. It does work out sometimes.................look at Friedel. I remember when everybody was saying, "come home, Brad, come home." Now look at him, most papers here in England say he is the top keeper in the Premiership and I'm not making that up. Also, look at Eddie Lewis and Hahneman. Then again, there is the Joe Max Moore situation.......................
Long term, it's in a younger players best interests to stick it out IMHO. Channel all that negative energy into their training. If Metz get promoted next year, Gooch will be playing in a league better than MLS, at least according to what former MLS player Greg Vanney had to say.
