I haven't seen this posted yet, either here or in the USMNT forum: http://www.boston.com/sports/soccer/articles/2006/05/24/feet_of_strength/ Good read. Some quotes I hadn't seen before. Gooch is a beast.
Crap, it was posted over in the USMNT forum...sorry...here is the link: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=357504
What about France??? BTW, this is from Wash Post...http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/10/AR2006041001478.html
Italian clubs have a tendency to splash out dollars on opposing team players during Italy's WC runs. If Gooch shows he can shut-down the Italian Toni, you bet that Gooch will have his suitors getting in line not just from the EPL, but Seria A.
Not to worry. I didn't see it over there either, so if you hadn't posted it here I wouldn't have had a chance to read this very good piece. Thanks.
Recent news report confirm Italian clubs don't limit their dollar splashing to opposing players during Italy's WC runs. Wonder how much they were offering to the refs for their WC games? ;-)
Im sure the Italians are above that sort of thing and wouldn't think they need to 'help" the WC ref's after the '02 Italy/SoKo game.
Didn't they try to cancel the contract of Korean striker Ahn Jung Wahn for scoring the winning goal against Italy?
