Just a quick note, not sure if it was already out there or not. I met Omar Gonzalez today at an event in Santa Monica and I asked him when he expects to be back and he said, "I hope to be back in 2-3 weeks at most". Not sure what any outlets are reporting, but thought I'd throw that out there since it's right from Omar himself.
So did I. I knew it was a joke especially cause he posted it on April 1st, but a lot of people freaked out about it.
Most likely training then after 1-2 weeks a sub appearance or playing for the reserves. Bruce isn't dumb, he won't throw Gonzo right back into the starting line-up before he is ready.
I took this quote to mean he'll resume full training in 2-3 weeks.... Which would seem to put him about a month ahead of schedule, yes?
His surgery was on 1/13 so if he resumes full training in 2-3 weeks then that is a week or two so short of 6 months. Barring any setbacks we'll probably see him in August.
That would be my guess, I didn't have a conversation with him really, it was the only question I got to ask and that was his response. I guess you could take it a few ways but it seemed to me, he'd be ready to resume full training in 2-3 weeks. As for the april fools and trolling responses, no, I never troll, and I havent posted around here for months. Just a galaxy fan who happened to get an interesting quote from one of our G's and figured I'd share it. take it for what it's worth. Go Galaxy!
Nothing personal just we've been trolled quite recently, by the man himself so I was just being cautious. I forgot that was on April 1st.
I'd think mid-August is more likely. They aren't going to risk any setbacks with him. He's too valuable...
It would seem Omar has been busy being in a pepsi commercial that also includes Torres, Messi, Aguero, Wilshire and others. He was speaking spanish in it though...
I could've sworn I read that Omar is back training on the side already. can't remember where i read this tho
I tried to find it on Youtube but I can't find the one with Gonzalez in it. It is a world wide commercial and the athletes apparently differ in each region. Omar just makes an appearance at the end saying something in espanol. Speaking of Gonalez, the US defense is falling apart. Bocanegra is coming to the MLS and Onyewu's play lately has been horrid. Goodson just isn't good enough, Ream will be playing in the championship and then there aren't too many options from there. Gonzalez has such a good opportunity now to assert himself into the national team but first he needs to make sure he comes back full fit and ready to play like he was before his injury.
I saw a Pepsi commercial with Gonzalez while I was watching one of the Euro games--not sure if it's the same one you saw. It was the crowd surfing commercial with Messi, Aguero, Drogba, Torres, etc. But at the end of the commercial they had Gonzalez talking about the Pepsi Clasico de Calle in California. Temyrss Lane & Claudio Suarez were also shown in this segment. It was an add-on to the original commercial--I'm guessing that part was only aired in California. Still it was kind of neat to see Gonzo getting endorsements.
