I checked the NBC Website. The gold medal match will be on NBC Sports Network and NBC Olympic Soccer Channel. How many of you get those channels? I do get MSNBC but not those channels... I do intend to watch the gold medal match on the NBC Website...But, I would prefer to watch it on TV. Do you remember what channel broadcast the Brazil vs US match in Beijing Olympics? Was it MSNBC? For London Olympics, MSNBC did show some women's soccer matches not involving US... I think more people have access to MSNBC than NBC Sports Network or NBC Olympic Soccer Channel... On Thursday, at the same time as the gold medal game, the main NBC channel will show women's water polo. MSNBC will show women's volleyball... OK, I do watch women's water polo and women's volleyball...But, come on, why not put the gold medal match on main NBC channel or MSNBC?
I am honestly surprised, and outraged, that it's not being shown on normal NBC. They should have always planned to show it on NBC if the US made it, but after that semi-final they should DEFINITELY have changed their programming to make sure it aired on normal NBC. We ordinarily don't have cable, but I spring for cable during World Cups and Olympics. Time-Warner is an awful company, but at least they don't force you into a contract with a cancellation fee, so I just return the box and everything once the events are over. So for now I do have NBC Universal Sports, thankfully.
It was my understanding that most satellite companies and cable systems were adding the soccer and basketball channels. I actually have all three with Dish.
I shouldn't be surprised NBC would do this but I can't believe on their main station, and please I don't mean to offend the sport of volleyball, that they save their main network station for Volleyball matches but can't possibly think about showing the soccer Final on NBC! BTW when I looked at the US Soccer website, it said the next friendly for the US will be shown on main NBC. But why that friendly and not the final?? I hate the olympic coverage NBC has provided btw but that's another story. Also when they do that edited delayed thing for primetime, they should have shown part of the US women's semi-final game. When I was a little girl, and saw the magnificent seven on primetime NBC albeit probably delayed because of being in California, I saw what was probably the most dramatic sporting event in my life, and I never forgot that moment. I still get chills thinking about that team competition and I asked my mom if I could be a gymnast after that. I think if a girl or boy watched that game they might react similarly who knows.
With DirectTV, I found the easiest way was to subscribe to the Spanish package for a month ($10 a month, and they will prorate it whenever you turn it on or off, even if is for one game). It has the Olympic channels here in Spanish and English, and you get most of Latin American futbol also. I may have trouble turning it off, though.
