Anyone know of a site to find a torrent of the game? The concacaf stream doesn't work in my neck of the woods and a 2 minute highlight clip just ain't enough

    Excellent analysis of the situation.

If it were a world cup qualifier against a Concacaf rival with a solid following, there probably would have been 10-15,000 more people but the Gold Cup group stage is not a big seller.

If it would have been the final against Mexico, it would have been standing room only; 65,000 plus.

I especially liked the MLS in Detroit sign at midfield. Does anyone know if there is movement on this issue?

According to a thread in the MLS expansion section they have a plan in place to rebuild the Silverdome into a soccer facility & also a shared complex with other sports and events.

It seems like they are officially in the running for an expansion team.

Ot but I'd love to give a team to Detroit and St Louis. Get a solid geographic core for the Midwest traveling fans like in the northeast.

Detroit would make for natural rivals with Toronto, Chicago, and Columbus.

28,000 is a decent turnout, not sure why people are dumping on them. The crowd was, at least in the supporters section, was very good.

Great time at game. Ford Field better than I expected. Detroit as a whole very unmemorable. Tough city.

This was my first nats game and it was pretty fun very pro us crowd. The AO section looked great. I can't wait to go to further games and sit in the AO section next time. The pitch didn't look as bad as I though it would considering they had to bring it in prior to practice Monday.

Could anyone post pics or a link of pics of the fans in the upper deck. USSoccer on twitter said the only reason the crowd looked bad on tv was due to the fact that most fans were in the cheap seats.

With the exception of the empty sections around the Canadian supporters, virtually every section seemed to have a decent number of people. My non-cheap seat sections were packed

i dont have a picture but looking around, thats a fair statement. the upper level was more crowded than the lower level. maybe that should tell CONCACAF something about pricing....

There were a fair number up there. As soon as I get wifi I'll put one up if I have the upper deck

Both of these pictures are second half of the Guadeloupe-Panama game. So the numbers were actually a bit higher by the time the US-Canada kicked off.

My wife and I went down to Detroit for the game, here are a few observations:

    (1) Ford Field was a great place to watch a game. Great sight lines, not a bad seat in the house. If I had to pick a stadium it resembles, I'd say the new Stanford Stadium, except with a roof. Both supporters sections were in good form.

    (2) Staff was a bit disorganized, they put our entire section in the wrong place and we all had to move. 300 level sections were not numbered and the last two digits apparently did not coincide with 100 and 200 levels.

    (3) Traffic was awful getting out. How can a city lose 2/3 of its population and still have traffic jams at 10:30 pm?

    (4) I thought there would be more Canadians, but it's still a good 5 hour drive to Toronto. Plus you have to mess around with customs and that's harder than it used to be. That's a big ask on a weeknight. I guess there aren't enough fans in the Windsor/London area from where it would be easy to get in and out.

    (5) When we first moved to Michigan about 6 years ago, we signed up for the MLS to Detroit movement. You put up something like $10 to count as a potential season ticket holder. It was being run by the guys who own the Bucks (PDL). I haven't heard anything more beyond the Silverdome rumors cited above. It would be nice to have a team here. For us in mid-Michigan, we're 6 hours to Chicago, Columbus, or Toronto.

    (6) There was no local promotion that I saw other than a billboard in Detroit itself. I did not know USA was going to play here until I looked up the TV listings at ussoccer.

See you again in about 17 years.

So, it sounds like Tampa will have about the same attendance as Detroit -- maybe a touch less. And, Tampa's game is on a Saturday. Seems like the Motor City didn't do too badly after all.

Traffic was only awful if you followed everyone else and got in line to get on 75 right by the stadium.

I drove several blocks away then hopped on 10 and there was very little traffic.

I actually made it back to Lansing at 11:48 PM (game ended at 10:00 and I probably didn't leave the stadium til 10 after or so), and it's normally an hour and a half drive, so I had literally no delays at all.

You called this on the nose. Tampa had slightly lower attendance than Detroit, but they got a weekend night.

    Advantage - Detroit

Not to argue semantics but Tampa was only 500 odd people less.

Awesome time here; thanks AO Detroit, AO, and the Detroit Pub for an awesome time. I love being a US fan for this exact reason.
