All this gloomy weather is making me look forward to the summer, already. Anyone know if CONCACAF has finalized the Gold Cup dates and venues?
Re: Gold Cup Locations? The Qwest Field calendar says that there will be matches in Seattle in July 7th and 9th.
Re: Gold Cup Locations? http://www.boston.com/sports/soccer/articles/2005/01/22/us_men_look_to_keep_gillette_streak_intact/ Two doubleheaders are scheduled at Gillette from July 10-17 and the tournament final will be at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. An official announcement is expected soon to set kickoff times
Re: Gold Cup Locations? houston chronicle states that they will have gameas as well: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/soc/3009084
Re: Gold Cup Locations? Good catch...although they state Colombia is in CONCACAF...we'll let that slide.
Re: Gold Cup Locations? you might want to re-read that i admit he did a poor job of writing it, but he did not state that colombia was in concacaf... i know he's covered soccer for the chronicle, so i'd imagine he would know better i think he just did a poor job of saying he was there and then mentioning two non members would be invited and forgetting to list them once again

Re: Gold Cup Locations? http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/3353586 mexico, us, south africa (with one of the two invites), three teams from the caribbean, four from central america and canada other invite is still in the works
Re: Gold Cup Locations? I will update the main schedule on the N&A board. I really like how they are spreading out the tournament to various locations. I wonder how Giants stadium ended up with the final?
Confirmed by this Seattle Times report: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2002160645_goldcup26.html Which teams will be in Seattle?
They took away the games from Columbus. I guess they were upset at Columbus because no one was willing to sit in the cold and overpay for tickets to a game that didn't mean anything.
You could think that. or.... You could think that maybe Columbus would be getting a much more prestigious match one month later. pessimism vs. optimism
Re: Gold Cup Locations? Looked it over again, you're right...he mentioned CONCACAF *Tournament* likely include Colombia, etc... Petty stuff on my part...must have done it to increase my post count. Anyway...as already mentioned, I too like the multiple stadia used for the tournament...gives it a big time feel. This is going to be one hell of a Gold Cup for sure. We just need to see Fox Sports World pick up English broadcasting rights and this will be a super kick butt tournament! They need a new Gold Cup logo (and trophy too). Funny that one of the groups will play in the huge mausoleum (sp?) known as the LA Coliseum after playing in the cozy HDC....how did THAT come about?!?!?!
Re: Gold Cup Locations? no worries... i did the same thing the first time i read it (which made me re-read it) i'd imagine mexico will be playing in the coliseum and that's why it's going to be used
