For area fans who would like to trek up to Giant's stadium next Sunday (either because the US is there or not), let's use this thread to help with carpools and or caravans. The SEs proposed doing a bigger trip but as I didn't get enough of a response to order up a bus here we are. The game next Sunday starts at 3 pm Ticket information for US supporters is here:https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=220491 K
ditto. May have a couple of other people interested, and would love to figure out a way to travel with other supporters.
Well, I hope the never-say-die performance by our boys in blue tonight changed some minds about what this tourney means and has inspired some folks to make the trek on Sunday. I've got at least two people wanting to go from DC, maybe more, and would love to hear more about a dc contingent organizing something. anyone ? beuhler?
I was also making sure that the US won tonight before thinking about going. If anyone is going from the Delaware area (or driving through Delaware) and wants to carpool, let me know.
I'm leaning towards going. What's the drill for tix now that the US is in the final. Will we still be able to get Sec 101 at the gate, or should I buy ahead of time. (I did check out the other thread, I'm just trying to gauge what all the rest of us DC bandwagon jumpers are doing) I don't really want to get stuck in a non-USA section. Sitting amongst a throng of Guatemalans at RFK a few years ago was not the coolest experience. And the parking lot scene at the Honduras game there wasn't much fun, either. Thx, Jay!
LATEST INFO ON TICKETS IN US SUPPORTERS SECTION DEADLINE 1 PM TODAY FOR PRE-ORDER! https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5591529&postcount=23 Looks like you can also get on game day, see instructions in the above thread K
I went last night and it turned out to be amazing. I am still walking around stunned. Please go. There were maybe 100 US fans in the whole stadium, outnumbered by 15,000 + Hondurans (most of whom were reasonably nice). That's criminal. It's embarassing. Even on a couple of days notice, the U.S. should be able to turn out more fans than this. And this is our confederation's trophy, a major tournament. I am amazed how little attention this has gotten. I don't know who to blame, our own federation or CONCACAF. I'm putting off my vacation by one day to go back to Jersey for this match, and I hope everybody can make it.
In the evening, the traffic isn't at all bad. I made it from the Swamp to Arlington in four hours, with a 15-min. spot for Sbarros' (avoid) .
Why is Sbarro's even in business, anyway? Overpriced, always "out of stuff" later in the day, and it isn't even reflective of authentic Italian cuisine. They need to die a Roy Rogers Restaurant death.
What are you, nuts? That'd mean the end of the Double R Bar burger, the pinnacle of Western Civilization!
The Double R Bar burger, the pinnacle of Western Civilization? Get Real. (everyone knows that's White Castle!)
Well, when I first landed in the US (lo these many years ago) we got to SF Airport at 8:30 AM. I thought I should have a hamburger. You know, quintessential American food, and all that. My first burger in this country, in fact, my first food in the US, was a Double R Bar burger. With horseradish. For breakfast. Hence my sentimental (and somehow pathetic) attachment to them.
Matt, haven't you noticed? All Roy Rogers stand-alone restaurants have been closed, even the very first one off Gallows Road in Fairfax. Roy Rogers is now only found at turnpike and/or I-95 major rest stops. My favorite, mind, is the gold-rush chicken sammidge. With sourdough bread.
