Three games that were already played and Canada vs. Cuba on Sunday at 6:00 P.M. are 4 games on FS2, with every other game on FS1. It would be nice to get the Final on broadcast Fox. If Fox knew the Final would be USA vs. Mexico, maybe they would show it, but the last two Finals had Jamaica, and the one before that had Panama. 2011 was the last USA vs. Mexico Final.
I may sound like a grumpy old man here but I think it is a politically correct BS gesture. They are throwing the Women's World Cup a bone.and making them the Focus on broadcast FOX and relegating the Gold Cup Final to cable. (Even though the start times are at way different times they want the Women to have the Network focus.)
Well let's face it, there is zero buzz surrounding the US men right now, and that's a big factor in how these events are covered(on the English language side)
True. But a possible USA-Mexico creates its own buzz. (I know Jamaica has spoiled the party the last couple editions so maybe that also is a factor.)
The Women's WC might be a significant factor as to why this Gold Cup is a non-event so far, but the final being in prime time on a Saturday probably doesn't help its chances to get on FOX
Sunday. But yes. The Animation domination is a factor. But it is mostly reruns at this time of year right?
Well, even when there is a reason for a buzz, or decent talking points to be at least mentioned, mainstream sports shows conveniently find reasons to cover other stuff like, umm spelling bees, and a baseball player throwing a bat on the sidelines.
