Sorry if already addressed but i am new and didnt see it anywhere. How is it possible to view GolTV in English, when the customer service lady kept telling me that it was only in Spanish? I assured her that I had read that it was available in English but she had no idea. She had poor english too which didnt help, I guess. Also, I am in Chicago - how the hell can i see ESPN Deportes and see those non-ESPN2 Champs League matches?? PEACE
I believe they simulcast most of their programming in English. You access the simulcast by pushing your SAP button.
And there's only the second legs of the quarterfinals that ESPN Depores will have matches not on ESPN2--2 will be showing both legs of the two semifinals!
GolTV is in English on DishNetwork DBS service and has an exclusive right for satellite service until the first of next year so DirecTV can't get it. It may also be on some cable systems that broadcast with SAP. I think it has been noted here by a few people.
I'm nowhere near as knowledgable about satellite and contracts with networks like some in the media area, but from my past dealings with DirecTV, I doubt that they'll carry GolTV on their basic platform...you'll have to pay for DirectTV Para Todos to get it. And Murdoch's evil grasp on DirecTV raises questions if they'll want to have a competitor of FSW on there...
Dish Network's AT180 will get you GolTV in English, the channel in the low 400s. http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/..._150/index.asp?viewby=1&packid=10045&sortby=1 ESPN Deportes is not available to 99% of the country. Best way is to get a bar which shows these games. There is one in Chicago...
What customer service did you call, that is, what system do you want to watch GolTV in English at? Echostar ? If that's the case, you can get GolTV in English in the AT180 Package, you can't get it in English in the Dish Latino or Dish Latino2 packages.
I have Comcast and GolTV in the latin package in Spanish... I switched my box to spanish langiuage (instead of volume it says volumen) and now I can hear GolTV in English, the bad thing is that some movies come out in Spanish.
At the NSCAA convention, a Gol TV rep said they planned to be on DirecTV in the fall. Whether it happens or not... Who knows. I did just switch from The Total Choice package to the DirecTV Para Todos. The only difference I can tell is that I get a bunch more Spanish language stations.
DirecTV Para Todos does NOT offer FOX News Channel, CNBC, or CNNfn. They are relatively minor losses. You can always watch CNN, MSNBC, and Bloomberg. Gol TV will be on DirecTV Para Todos sooner or later (October 1 at the earliest, after Gol TV's exclusive distribution deal with DISH Network expires.) However, DirecTV does not want Gol TV for its English-language packages. That is a major sticking point in contract negotiations, so I understand.
Sure. Right now, I've only found one channel that I've lost that got any real viewing time: BBC America.
The 18-20" oval dish that's pretty standard now. I hadn't done it cause I had an oldschool "round" dish that only gets the one satellite location. I'm actually on Para Todos now with my old system, so I haven't seen any benefit. All the additional channels are on the secondary orbital slot.
Another question...I assume the menus and program descriptions are en Espanol with ParaTodos - any way to switch them to English?
Everthing is in English for the English language stations on my system. They're certainly not going to pay someone to translate all the program descriptions into Spanish.
